Ok I feel better about Northwestern now

That was impressive. Wondering if I should be worried about Lindsey though...

Not yet -- he has mono, right? If he's not back by next week, then it would start to get worrisome.

In D3 news, I went and watched my alma mater play today. They're currently (at least as of Jan 31) the highest scoring team in the country. They won tonight 149-146. They were down 7 w/ just under 2:00 left, and finally hit some key 3s to close it out. Very intense. They sub the entire line, play full-court press, lots of traps, and then just set up for quick 3s. Using the Grinnell system, and it's working for them. Only the 1st full season in this scheme, so there's still some growing pains.

That Kansas comeback/West Virginia choke was something to behold. Whatever you think about Bill Self, the guy is amazing. Soon to be 13 consecutive B12 titles. Going to be a long time before we see that again in a power conference. And the B12 is the best conference this year (sorry, ACC). Unbelievable.

That was a massive, massive choke job. Loved seeing KU take advantage, but head-to-head WVU is the better team imo.

KU has been extremely fortunate this year. They are 5-2 in their last 7 games. Over the course of those seven, they and their opponents have scored the exact same amount. That they've still won at that clip is a testament to Self and the team, but they've also benefitted from some luck.

I personally think the reffing stuff is overblown (I know, homer.) We are middle of the pack when it comes to foul differential in the conference. Do we get home cooking? Sure. But every team does.

Overall, though, yes, Self has done an amazing job considering how bad our front court is. Lucas is a great role player. Should not be your star big.

I don't have high tourney hopes for these guys, but I'm usually a KU pessimist. Don't care as much either since the Cubbies won it all.

Yeah. I've never had it but know it can get pretty nasty, esp if spleen issues arise.

Gotta love Pokey! When did your brother attend?

Ah, I just missed him. I was 01-05

Not really, we can't hit the broad side of a barn in the last 6 games and doubling happ is exposing our shitty shooting. Plus our only shooter is hurt and struggling.

Well, Bronson Koenig is officially being sat due to his injury so our Frosh D'Mitrk Trice (Travis Trice's younger brother) will be getting the start.

It's gotta be tough to be a Northwestern basketball fan :(

Michigan and Purdue to finish off the year. They might be in a position where they will need to win a game in the BTT to feel safe. What the hell

That was one of the worst fouls ever. Just let the guy take the dunk and the worst that happens is you go to OT. But trying for the block from behind was terrible.

Northwester has to win at least one more game to make the tourney right? I wouldn't think finishing 9-9 in conference with a first round Big Ten tournament loss would be enough.

The only thing I'll say is that this is one of the weakest bubbles I've ever seen and Northwesterns resume is still quite abit better than some of the teams mentioned as last 4 in. They are still in solid shape but it's certainly concerning because Michigan is red hot and Purdue is probably the best overall team in the conference so it's certainly not a stretch for them to lose both, putting a ton of pressure on them in the BTT QF against a team like Illinois or Indiana

Reminds me a lot of Iowa a few years ago and they just barely got into the field after a late season complete collapse

It's going to be weird when Illinois somehow finishes above northwestern in the B1G.

They are going to beat Michigan State and Rutgers, sneak in, and get Groce an extension. Gross.

I didn't even realize Illinois was in shape to have an outside shot at an at large...i don't hear anyone talking about them. Their RPI is 56th and SOS is 12th. Beating MSU at home gives them a 5th top 50 RPI win (although 3 of those are against the 46th team and the 50th team (x2) and they play each other this week). Their worst loss was at Indiana (87th). If they beat MSU and Rutgers they are 18-12 (9-9).

Could they be 1-2 BTT wins from making it as an at-large?
