NIT is going to experiment with the rules:

C6wnTEjVAAA-kQo.jpg

I'm indifferent on all the foul related ones but I really like the 20 second shot clock for a front court inbounds. Would the shot clock go down to 20 if it's over 20 when they're inbounding (like after a missed shot when the ball goes off the defending team)?

The shot clock going to 20 on the frontcourt inbound is a good idea. Everything else there mirrors what they did with women's basketball a couple years ago, and is a really really bad idea ('segments', really?)

Isn't Matt Lottich the guy from Illinois that hit the buzzerbeater for Stanford that one year they were ranked #1?

EDIT: i was thinking of the Robinson buzzer beater against Arizona, but Lottich had one, too. Lol

Illinois with their largest margin of victory of the season...so at least they're playing like they want to be playing, finally.

IU really bungled that. I assume they were trying to protect Crean, but I think it is too late. I think he is on his way out one way or the other.

Illinois said to be getting ready to offer Tony Bennett 4.8 mil per year.

Whitman wants SFC filled up.

if he was going to get canned, why is IU waiting? I don't think it's going to happen this year.

well they just played last night

But yeah personally I don't think they are ready to pull the trigger yet

Looks like Mizzou is hiring Cuonzo Martin. Not the most awe inspiring hire, but should ensure some watchable basketball, and I've forgotten what that looks like. Now to see if Romar gets fired and the Porters potentially come back into play.

There just seems to be quite a bit of smoke surrounding it. I think it is already in the works. Crean has 3 years left on his contract, so that doesn't sell real well when trying to recruit kids.

Lots of names being rumored about from the likes of Alford (ugh), to the likely unreasonable (Donovan).

Thad Matta looks like he will survive another year, but the consensus is that another mediocre season next year and he's toast. Patience is worn thin in these parts

Seriously. He's had the 2nd or 3rd most successful program in the Big Ten during his tenure (only MSU and maybe Wisconsin can compare) and a couple of down years and he's out?

The big knock is that he's a great recruiter who sucks at developing players. So if he recruits a Conley or Oden or Russell, he's good. But if the recruits are less ready from the start, they never get better

I honestly didn't see Ohio State as a school who cared enough about basketball to bring out the pitchforks for someone like Matta after only two years of mediocre basketball following quite a bit of good.

It's a football school first and always, but when Matta gave them some really good years, the fans got used to it, and now they're growing irritable

I'm strangely excited about Iowa's NIT games. I guess it's because they're a bunch of young kids who I didn't expect to do much this year and they've been fun to watch most of the season (with low expectations following a Cubs World Series where I didn't really get emotional about sports for months but still) I think they could make a run which would be a thing I guess.

I"d take Bennett, but I'd prefer Scott Drew or Gregg Marshall.

Doesn't IU owe Crean a [expletive] of money if they fire him? They may be waiting him out hoping he heads elsewhere to save some cash.

Pretty sure the buyout is 4 million until July 1st.
