I'd pull Jake here. Dominant outing, now let's see the Strop-Rondon-Chapman trio do it's 7-8-9 magic.

it's 5-0 so i don't necessarily need to see those guys but i have no problem pulling him now and getting strop his work in the 7th

At 85 through 6, not terribly efficient but should give him another inning before Stropy and someone else finish it off. Would really like to see him get through the 7th without much issue.

when you have 8 K's in 6 innings and dudes keep swinging and missing, it's gonna be hard to be all that efficient

Chapman hasn't pitched since Monday; Rondon has only thrown 10 pitches since Monday and Strop obviously hasn't pitched in awhile. No harm in them each getting an inning today.

Part of it is me just wanting to see dominant starting pitching for 6 then our version of the nasty boys for 7-8-9.

Baseball is so stupid. Last year, god-mode Arrieta was in effect for months, right up through the end of the season. And it was ceaseless, too. Every single pitch in every single game was a god-mode Arrieta pitch. And then it disappeared in flash, somewhere around the 5th inning of the Wild Card Game, when he finally ran out of gas.

This year, he's looked like horsefeathers for the better part of the last three or four months. And, then suddenly, he re-appears, right when we need him the most. It's hilarious that he could struggle (relatively) like he has and then possibly be a bigger weapon this post-season.

oh yeah and montero is catching jake again

screw it, i want montero catching jake

Yeah seriously, I know why they were trying Contreras with him a bunch but they seem the most comfortable together and you really want the best framer with Arrieta you can get

K's don't increase pitch counts.

2/10 stretch

why do people point the mic into the audience? in a concert? during the stretch? ever?

If you're singing the stretch and you know you suck at singing I can respect the move.

It will be interesting to see when Arrieta pitches next. He can only fit 1 more start into the regular season on normal rest, so my best guess he will get a little extra rest both before and after his next start, putting him in line for Game 2.
