Not sure why you guys are talking about comp picks when the Cubs won't have one next year unless I'm missing something here. They can't offer a QO to Fowler so they won't have 2 early picks.

Oh, I was under the impression they could. Can you explain why they can't? Thanks.

After looking at MLB.com top 100 list there are 3 position players taken in the late 20's or supplemental (Gallo, Brinson, and Judge) in the top 30. To counter that there are only like four pitchers in the top 30 and only Glasnow was picked in that range or later. I know this is just a snap shot of a mediocre top 100 list, but it still makes feel a lot more comfortable with the idea of a position players in general. It's hard enough to scout and develop pitchers, when you throw in the risk factor for injuries I just don't know if the risk reward is worth it. I'd rather pay for it in the international market, free agency, or trades.

Brailyn Marquez is listed at 6'4 but is probably more like 6'5 or 6'6. I would describe him as a younger version of Bryan Hudson, throwing a ton of ground balls but not getting a lot of swings & misses (yet). Because of his size he could eventually grow into more velocity, but right now he's mostly a pitch-to-contact guy. He generally throws strikes.

eloy donged today.

And not to be outdone, the other half of the 2013 IFA dynamic duo, Gleyber Torres, hit a walk off single to win the game for the Scottsdale Scorpions. Gleyber went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, a walk and no Ks. Eloy also went 2-for-4 with a single, a HR, a walk and no Ks. 3 walks against 1 strikeout for Eloy thus far.

Ian Happ now hitting .292/.346/.417 with 3 doubles, 2 walks and 4 Ks in 24 ABs.

Eloy is tied for the team lead in HRs (2) despite being the youngest player (by far) on the roster.

Duane Underwood is the 2nd youngest pitcher on the Solar Sox. Connor Greene is the only one younger and he's struggled mightily with 8 walks vs. 3 Ks. Though Underwood hasn't done all that well himself.

He's fallen way down the rankings, but if Underwood can stay healthy next season, he's got a chance to re-establish himself as at least a reliever in the bigs. It will be fun to track next year.

Has it been announced that Schwarber is returning to the AFL?

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere he was taking the rest of the offseason off and will resume baseball activities in spring training. I can't recall where I saw that though.

Bender Theo is Schwarbs' wingman.
