Went to game in Mesa on Friday Nov 11. Happ had 2 strikeouts and a walk. On one strikeout that ended an inning he slammed his helmet to the ground. On the other he flung his bat into the stands on the swing.

I got a picture of the Spring Home of the Chicago Cubs "Marquee" that looks like the one at Wrigley. Said 2016 World Series Champions on the bottom.

cubs just win championships

Eugene, Myrtle Beach, Chicago and the Mesa Solar Sox this year.

Jesus, even "That's so Cub" wound up being right.

Baseball America[/url]"]Ian Happ, lf, Cubs. Happ belted two homers—one from each side of the plate, the first time he’s done that—as Mesa beat Surprise 6-1 in the AFL championship game. Happ went 4-for-4 and made a nice catch to keep alive Dylan Covey’s no-hitter—at least for one more batter. Happ hit .236/.375/.403 in the AFL regular season, showing good plate discipline with 15 walks.

Gleyber ended up winning the AFL MVP.

Eloy Jimenez and Ryan McNeil have won two championships since the start of September.

[schwarber] hold my beer.

With confidence I can say he will be the only player ever to be on the champion AFL and MLB roster of the same season.

Happ finished the AFL with a line of: .276/.402/ .526/ .928

There's a lot of good there. It's going to come down to contact for him... I don't get the sense that he has Brett Jackson disease and just can't consistently hit a pitched baseball. The organization has had some success in helping young hackers cut down on their K's, I believe that's a good possibility with Happ as well.

We'll see.

I wonder if Bender Theo thought of sending him back for the AFL Championship for shits and giggles.

It's absolutely amazing to me that after graduating Bryant,Russell,Baez,Contreras,Soler and Schwarber that without the Chapman trade the Cubs would still have the #1,#3 and #8 prospects in the AZL as well as possible top 100 guys in Cease,Clifton and Candelario

It interests me how Happ always gets ranked as favorably as he does. The reports are always negative about his future at 2B; the reports are never effusive about his power; and he K's all the time. Yet they still like his hitting to consistently respect him. Hope they are right.

If the Yankees resign Chapman, loaning him out for a couple of months while getting him back and getting Gleyber for that temporary loan could look like really brilliant GM'ing.
