God it's starting to happen. I tracked the game through the end of the no-hitter, totally forgot about it, and then just clicked back to the box score and felt...nothing? Just a feeling of 'that's what was supposed to happen'.

I mean, we're 40 games over. This will, in all likelihood, never happen again in my lifetime. I need to make it a point to enjoy this last month. October will suck/be incredible soon enough.

You know Bryant is so excited for how loaded he'll be able to get when they clinch. They'll have like 3 weeks to recover. Edited by ScrubMD

oh I should hope we have more seasons like this, I mean, the team and management is set up to have many more seasons like this

Don't think like a Cubs fan. Think like a fan of a team run by Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer

Oh I get that we have many Octobers in the near future. This is far from a fluke. But we're winning at a 105 win pace right now (and 'playing' above that). This is incredibly rare, even for a best team in baseball.

I didn't think the 2008 regular season would be topped until the last two months of last season.

Y'all. I can't believe how beaten down some of you have been. We're going to have several more 100 win seasons in the next decade.

This franchise is set up for Second-Half-of-the-90s-Yankees good

They are on pace for 105 wins. The Yankees have only won that many once in the last 50 years. The 1990s Indians never did it (though they would have if not for the strike at 100-44).

So on the one hand, it'd be kind of crazy to expect more seasons like this even within the context of sustained excellence. But at this point, betting on regression to the mean has repeatedly not paid off so who knows maybe they are still just warming up.
