Tommy La Stella might now be the greatest thing to ever happen to baseball. This is an amazingly stupid display of hubris.

Operation Shutdown.

I don't know who he thinks he is or what kind of negotiating power he thinks he has but this is indeed amazingly stupid on his part. The tweet about him needing to figure out his future in MLB is weird, like what kind of options does he have on his side other than just taking his ball and going home?

So basically Maddons cryptic comments were basically him challenging LaStella to report and if he doesn't he won't be back with the team.

I totally understand his being pissed because he is better than Coghlan, but it's not like Tommy La Stella is the best player to ever have to get sent to AAA for lack of other possibilities. Really sort of incredible how much of an horsefeathers he's being.

Joe is likely a seal racist. There weren't no horsefeathering seals at Zoo Day now, were there?

It's so hilariously sad how shortsighted he's being; the guy's obviously a platoon player at best, yet he's acting like he's being denied a starting job. On team as stacked as the Cubs. I don't even know how to process that. So he gets himself booted off a team this good to, what, go be a platoon player on a crappier team? Amazing Jersey-logic there.

I'd also find it highly unlikely with our FO and Joe that they didn't sit him down and have a good talk with him about the reasoning of the move and assured him he has a role. I doubt he just showed up to the park one day and found his locker cleared out with a megabus ticket to Iowa leaving in an hour. But he's surely acting like the latter happened or is just a horsefeathering idiot that the former likely happened and he couldn't get it through his stupid seal brain. Edited by Cubswin11

I highly doubt they got detailed with the reasoning.

I'm mad at La Stella for making me like him for like a 2 month period.

I hated him for irrational reasons, and now i'm disappointed in him for totally rational reasons.

Well plus I'm sure Maddon intended on calling him up the first time a position player was needed and worse case on September 1st. I'm guessing his intention was still to include him on the playoff roster barring a major outburst from Coghlan. And I'm sure he articulated this to LaStella when he was sent down.

Yes! The guy is seemingly acting like he was being sent down to make room for someone who was taking his job for the foreseeable future, but worst case he's back in a month! This is so bizarre.
