Helps the bench, I suppose. No more Federowicz? (Please?) Edited by Andy

Welcome back!

and Mendy, sorry it didnt work out, I will always remember the one hit you had in 2015, which was a slow ground ball through a drawn in IF for a walkoff. I will also remember Joe talking about you becoming the Cubs Ben Zobrist, before the Cubs actually went out and got Ben Zobrist. And finally I will remember your 9ish HRs in 2014 making me think you were a piece of the future.

It occurs to me that this probably doesn't bode well for Soler's chances of coming back any time soon.

Well the immediate reason is because LaStella is going on the DL...what the hell happened?

Hammy strain, per Bruce Miles. I guess that explains why Travis Wood randomly ran for him the other night.

I was excited when I heard this, and then I found out Coghlan has been ummmm....a bit less than impressive this year in Oakland. Hopefully he can help out. I'm sure Maddon loves the flexibility.

Does this mean the Great Chris Coghlan Infielder Experiment is going to resume? That wasn't particularly pretty last time around.

I'll remember him as being the first of the first wave and me getting so excited about what was coming. Sort of like getting mozzarella sticks before a steak.

This made me go back and look up who the Cubs got for Coghlan in March and it was Aaron Brooks...he hasn't pitched at all this year?

I refuse to accept that Fangraphs line. His 2016 fWAR must be a typo or something.

Jeez I thought maybe they were just hitting him against lefties and righties without worrying about splits and that was dragging his numbers down. Nope .525 OPS against righties, 1-17 against lefties

Maybe he gets back into a groove with Mallee

Among position players with 0 or more PA this season, Chris Coghlan has been the worst player in baseball with -1.7 fWAR. Granted, part of that is a nasty .170 BABIP.

Still, he shouldn't have cost Mendy -- even despite his decreased prospect stature.

Coghlan was the 55th more valuable offensive player in baseball last year. Giving up someone who's put together below league average performance in AAA over his last 160 games doesn't seem like that much.

All depends on what you want to look at. Coghlan's peripherals have definitely gone down, but batted ball profile seems pretty consistent to last year.

Theo must be serious about wanting 117 wins. We probably could have just called Alcantara up for La Stella and it really wouldn't have mattered. Now, if only he would do something about the Clayton Richard Situation.
