My only question is how awkward will his reunion with Dexter be?

Why?

Yeah, what the horsefeathers is he babbling about. Is there some Fowler/Coghlan rivalry only he knows about? Or does he inexplicably think a utility player will be pissed the Cubs brought back their starting CF?

and at the LAST freaking moment when his price was way cheaper than ever. And he's a CF (and a damn fine one this year, too). Coghlan is not remotely close to the same player/situation.

Instead, this will be their reunion:

Is there any reason at all to think that Coghlan will regain last year's form?

Hitting in this lineup may greatly change the pitches he sees.

like with Brett Jackson, it really baffles me when players are at first good but then get markedly worse in their 2nd go-around at AAA

I'm happy because I liked Cogs. I think Maddon will find a way to make him useful.

Maybe the manager of the A's made him button the top button of his jersey. It's like Samson when his hair was cut. Coghlan's chest needs to breathe for him to be good.

It was a facetious reference to Fowler's surprise entrance catalyzing Cogs' surprise exit.

Other than him wearing the Cubs' uni again? Dunno.

Is it any less likely than his returning to 2010 form last year after being useless for 3-4 years prior?

i'm not sure what LLF is being jumped on about here...funny or not, it was obviously a jokey reference to coghlan losing his spot (and being sentenced to baseball hell) on a 110 win behemoth as a direct and immediate result of the fowler signing.

Coghlan didn't lose horsefeathers to Fowler, or only become expendable because they signed him; it's not like he was going to be a regular starter if they hadn't signed Fowler; he still just would have just been getting selects starts based on matchups or who was resting. There was never a point where he wasn't expendable, regardless of Fowler's decision. Hell, if anything, by LLF's tortuous joke-logic, he should be pissed at Szczur or Zobrist before Fowler.

Oh my God you are putting way too much thought into this and he absolutely was traded as a result of the signing.

I was looking at Coghlan's stats and thought "oh, a .487 Slg, thats not bad at all" and then realized that was his OPS

He's had a real rough year in the Coliseum. I can imagine him plugging in and being useful for a few weeks which is what we'll likely need him for.

yeah i doubt they really wanted jhey to be the every day CF all season but there's a direct cause/effect here.

Didn't Coghlan have terrible starts his years with the Cubs too? I remember him being below .200 in June a couple years ago.

Correct. Very ugly stats.

I'm kinda stunned anyone thought Al Contra was more than a bag of meat at this point. What did he do, finally go on some kind of crazy tear in the minors recently?
