I mean, Duke Silver is right in his article - Javy has no approach, and seemingly very little pitch recognition. But the man is superhumanly talented, and he's getting better at fouling off crummy pitches instead of just flailing at them.

 

If we 're lucky we have Alfonso Soriano + absurd defense on the infield on our hands. If not we still have a very valuable baseball player on our hands.

Who would have predicted Lackey would have these numbers after his first two starts? It's even better knowing how the Cards' rotation has taken such a step back.

He has swung at a few pitches out of the zone, but I wouldn't say he's had bad AB's.
