I really hope Hendricks gets his due alongside Rizzo, Bryant, Lester, Javy, in 10-15 years when everyone looks back at this Cubs era. None of this happens without him somehow unlocking a god mode changeup and succeeding wildly with a profile that no other pitcher in the big leagues has.

I'm not positive about this, but I feel like Hendricks will be more fondly remembered than Lester in 10-15 years by Cubs fans. I certainly enjoy watching Hendricks more and appreciate what he does in such a unique way. I think he'll get his due from Cubs fans down the road.

Probably in 10-15 years they'll be rated this way (in the minds of Cubs fans).

Cubs pitchers from this era:

1. Arrieta

2. Hendricks

3. Lester

4. Hamels (if he has a legendary postseason run that leads to a WS)

5. Strop

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of our fan base thinks Strop sucks, or at the least is nothing special.

Game 6 against the Dodgers goes down as the most enjoyable baseball game I've ever watched.

yes, WS Game 7 was crazy and obviously had the end result everybody wanted, but NLCS Game 6 is just a masterpiece.

Yeah I have to say Game 6 probably was a much more enjoyable watch in terms of pure mastery of the sport, Hendricks faced the minimum right? It was crazy. And just making the World Series was nigh unfathomable to me, that was the night I went down to Wrigleyville and walked among the drunk folks.

I'm a crazy person so World Series Game 7 almost killed me, but ended the right way.

Game 6 vs the Dodgers also ended in like 2 hours and 20 minutes which is unheard of in playoff baseball. I didn't even have time to get drunk before the game ended. My dad won the playoff lottery to buy tickets to the NLCS, he picked game 2 instead of game 6 because he had a wedding to go to for the clincher. I really wish he would have blown off the wedding as we sat thru that Kershaw domination instead.

We've got 2, hopefully 3 years left on Lester's deal, and Hendrick's has two more arbitration years. If Arrieta goes down as the best/most memorable pitcher of this era, things will probably have gone pretty badly in the next few years. No one is going to top Jake's 2015, but ultimately what happens in October is going to stick around for me, and I think Kyle and Jon have quite a few big playoff games left ahead of them.

yea, I'd be stunned if Strop is thought of much at all outside of NSBB'ers. #5 might be John Lackey because of his legendary mound melt down in game 2 (I think it was game 2) last year, but not in a good way.

I also think that him getting hurt this year caused a lot of people to appreciate how good he is.

Yeah, I was talking about how they'll rate all the Cubs pitchers that are viewed favorably lol.

Yeah, Lackey makes the list if we're talking about Cubs pitchers that sucked. Honestly, most of the crappy pitchers will fade from memory. We won't even remember them in 10-15 years. Now, that probably won't happen with Lackey...

Strop has been around for a few years and was a key part of the turnaround for this franchise. He's been awesome every year he's been here. Fans are noticing how important he is with Morrow out. People were ripping Maddon on sports talk radio for letting him hit and get hurt. His profile has certainly increased this year. I think Cubs fans will remember him fondly in the future (he'll show up for every Cubs Convention and I wouldn't be surprised if he joins the organization after he retires in some coach/mentor role).

Lot of mentions of Game 6 against the Dodgers in 2016... Game 1 against Washington in 2017 was almost as good, and in some ways it was more the prototype of an ideal Hendricks start... weak ground ball after weak ground ball after weak ground ball.

Does Kyle now have the nickname 'Drix', if so why and if so who give it to him and why haven't they been fired yet?

side question: who thought he was injured or dead because I bumped this?

Well, I can answer the why. (Hendricks - Hen = dricks = drix) The rest remains a mystery.
