Ugly one yesterday, but all it counts for is a W, so I'll take it.

Today we've got Jason Hammel taking the hill for us, looking to make it 8 consecutive quality starts to kick off the year. Anyone else hardly recognize him with the beard?

His counterpart from the Brewers, some guy with a first name that makes you wonder if his parents didn't know that you can add a suffix to the end of a name, Junior Guerra.

Isn't that just the face of a guy who was excited to be claimed off waivers, was handed a jersey and hat for a photo shoot, then realized he got claimed by the Brewers?

Let's go Cubs! Score a bunch of runs. Unlike my approach with every other type of sporting event, I find close games involving the Cubs to be less interesting than one-sided slugfests. 100-0 and my day will be made. I'LL ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTE!

Keep up the seemingly unsustainable peripherals Hammer

Yeah his xFIP is like 4.00 (owing to only a 2-1 K-BB rate and that he's given up basically no home runs on fly balls)

He'll regress but I hope he ends up walking fewer dudes to counteract it somewhat

Consider the Brewers pitcher is some nobody I've never heard of, I'm expecting another mightily difficult struggle and no runs before the 9th inning, again

Get that 2014 Cubs talk out of here. Their Sunday night Stanley's hangover has finally worn off and there will be dongs a plenty.

Last night was an experience. Let's make the most of the twilight of pre-June Hammel and unload 4 days worth (counting the off day) of runs on this Juventud Guerrera fellow.

And seeing as Braun was never even considered as an option last night, I have to assume that he won't be today either. So there's that.

That would probably be my favorite line-up in the preseason if you told me Schwarber wasn't available, and yet, now I feel myself starting to desire a Tommy La Stella and David Ross on the field...

Its a strange feeling

Scooter batting third. I hope Brewers fans don't think they've seen rock bottom. It's going to get ugly later this year when Braun, Lucroy, and Carter are gone.

I know there was a 3 week injury in the middle of this sample size (UMFan strikes again) but after a white hot first 6 games of the season, Miggy is hitting .067/.263/.067/.330 since April 15.

Of course that's just 38 PA over 11 games.

No Braun and no Lucroy with a pitcher nobody has heard of? This should be such a gimme that it makes me nervous.

You'd think at some point the Cubs will lay down a pounding in a situation where a pounding seems to be in order.

Keep rolling them dice
