Looking at Cubs boxscores in 1965, what was Leo Durocher thinking batting Beckert leadoff? .270ish OBP?

OBP may as well have been rocket science in 1965.

Make sure to visit the Airport Lounge if you stay near the airport.

Just got tickets to Saturday's game. Will be my first time at AT&T.

I'll be there Friday night to watch Arrieta pitch. Second row seats right between Cubs dugout and bullpen. Can't wait. :D

On my birthdate the 43-52 Cubs lost to the 51-44 Dodgers with a score of 3 - 5 in 12 innings. Tom Dettore gave up 2 runs in the 12th for the loss. Bill Madlock was leading the team with a .358/.389/.472 at the time.

The only question is will my daughter be born into this world and have her first game be started by Hendricks or Lackey??

I have a 3 week old. "Son, it may not seem like a big deal now that the Cubs have won 7 out of the last 10 World Series, but I promise you, it was huge back in 2016."

Eta: hammel in a 9-0 win over the Reds.

Eta: my son, not me.

Thanks, definitely will do. But looks like park bench so far.

oh my god. there are multiple people in the psd thread for this series claiming that the cubs play down to bad teams and need to stop doing so.

they one of them brought up their 11-6 record vs bad teams (you know, a 104 win pace) as evidence of this. you know, the same team people argued was just pounding bad teams prior to facing the pirates and nationals...then they go 7-0 in those games and i guess they play down to bad teams.

what the horsefeathering horsefeathers?

^^Ugh, I hate that place worse than bleacher nation. There are some real horsefeathering idiots that post regularly on PSD. (like that petrey, or petey, guy, whatever the horsefeathers his name is)

I know the difference. it doesn't make any sense for there to be any sort of emphasis on the word

it makes sense just fine. it's a goofy fun fact (i'm not big on fun facts, but some people are) and the fact that it was his brother is what makes it "fun" (slightly)

i don't think it really needed emphasis but i think it's probably weirder to be taken aback or bothered by it being emphasized enough to point it out.

Going so far as to point out of the fact that mike maddux is greg maddux's brother takes care of the pointing out a fun fact. I don't think people are going to miss that by not adding some sort of [glow=purple]highlight[/glow] to that *factoid*
