The day I was born, some dude named Steve Renko started and the Cubs lost 6-4 to the Big Red Machine, to move 14 1/2 games back in mid June.

I was born on July 31st so every trade deadline means I hope the Cubs get me a birthday present and usually they don't

I remember this board was super excited that Hendry finally went after an OBP guy for the top of the Cubs lineup. He had a .380 OBP with the Pirates that year.

Traded to the Cubs, he then put up a .244/.289/.308/.597 line, was flipped to the Yankees when the Cubs fell out of it and was even worse before getting suspended for PEDs the next season.

Glad they're finally in town! I'm going Tuesday/Wednesday and was going to go Thursday but I couldn't get the day off work. :(

Bill Hands started for the Cubs on my birthday. He took the loss in a 2-1 against the Mets at Shea. The Cubs fell to 39 games below .500, and 28 games out of first, on their way to their worst season in franchise history.

Of course, I was born at night so the first actual Cubs game after my birth was a 12 inning, 6-5 victory against the Braves that was started by Robin Roberts and won by Fergie Jenkins in relief.

Looking at Cubs boxscores in 1965, what was Leo Durocher thinking batting Beckert leadoff? .270ish OBP?

I was born January 6th, 1969. The future looked bright for the northsiders when I was born, The Cubs finished strong in '68 with an 84-78 record, but we all know how that turned out.
