this entire baseball thing for tebow is just a way for him to sign a contract with under armor or adidas or whoever it is. it's a total horsefeathering sham.

I hope he's 2009 Rick Ankiel.

I hope he's 2017 Oscar Tavares

You can always count on Durwood to be the worst at everything and never be funny.

I'd like to see Tebow make the Mets roster and hit around .265 with about maybe 18 HRs. That would put him squarely in the middle of people with nothing better to do getting bent out of shape over whether or not he's any good. I'm also fine with never hearing about him again.

squarely in the middle of what?

that'd be an amazing accomplishment by him.

I assumed he meant the St. Lucie Mets...

Never assume. 18 HRs over the course of the season would be a good season for Tebow but not for most anybody else (or am I so spoiled by our own players that I don't realize that 18 HRs represents good production from a corner OF these days?)

I enjoy how much people feel the need to either hate or defend Tebow. Why does anyone care enough to argue about this guy?

Ben Zobrist had 18 HRs and batted .272 last year.

Fine 14 HRs. Not really the point but adjusted to better reflect mediocre performance by a corner OF that will likely strike out 200 times.

I dont care one way or the other about Tebow, but yea, it feels as perhaps you're still calibrated to early aughts offensive numbers?

But overall, it would be a huge accomplishment for Tebow to even make the MLB team and stick, even if he sucked.

I don't really have anything against Tim Tebow the person, he seems like a good enough dude. But I don't want to hear anything about him and baseball. He hit .194/.296/.242 in the Arizona Fall League, he wasn't even committing full time to it with football commentary commitments, and he turns 30 this year. He is less than nothing in the eyes of baseball until he actually does something, several extended somethings actually.

I guess I don't watch as much sportscenter as I used to, and had only heard of his attempt at baseballing here at NSB. I just kind of shrugged it off as a non-thing. I just don't get the hate, but if it is filling up people's news feed it would get old.

Growing up in South Bend I grew to dislike Notre Dame because, when looking for Cubs news, all I could get in the paper or local news was that Lou Holtz's mother-in-law had a hangnail - front page. I could see it getting old.

people in the twitterverse noted a couple days ago that MLB itself had promoted Tebow over social media far more frequently than they had the greatest player in the league, Trout.

Yeah, that's Holtzian. I get it now.

Sorry to interrupt the Tebow talk.

I'm reading that now. The Instagram video Darnell McDonald posted is a completely different swing than last year. If that's what he eventually gets to in game action it would be awesome.

Tebow is the living version of the DickButt drawing. It's exceedingly fun to watch him repeatedly fail at everything.

Steve: Have you seen Heywards new swing? Besides being way to early to see if its sustainable or productive for him, does the loading and swing path look more natural and promising than what he previously had?

Klaw: On video, and talked to scouts who’ve seen it, and basically there’s nothing positive to say right now.

Who's Klaw?

Keith Law. Definitely way in the know.

Isn't he a pretty notorious Cubs hater or am I confusing him with someone else?

I don't claim to know anything about a baseball swing but didn't Derrek Lee make the same adjustment that Heyward is trying to make now?
