Hahahaha I love him so much

Seriously. He's like an amazingly self aware cartoon character.

And chin high fastballs.

and curveballs three feet outside and splitters at his head and palmballs thrown into the dugout on purpose and the pitch conan talks about at the olde tyme base ball game where the pitcher digs a trench so the ball can be as low as he wishes it to be

It's about to be July, and in the next few days Javy should become the most valuable player on the team per fWAR, unless Willson goes on a tear that eclipses Javy's. The inmates are running the asylum.

Since negative stuff still gets brought up from time to time on Javy, usually during the middle of a cold streak.....

Star.

Star.

i have a three stages of javy opinions that i continuously cycle through

- he'll never have an interest in patience, and will always make a ton of outs even at his best. trade him while he still has a lot of value

- just between the defensive talent and power, he's basically a lock to to be a 2-3 win player every year, with the upside for more in seasons where he gets hot. we probably won't get enough in return to justify trading him, but he's not untouchable.

- he is a star in every facet of the game. i am infatuated with this player. never ever trade him.

I absolutely love Javy, warts and all. I just can’t imagine him in another uniform and don’t want to.

The parallel I draw with Javy is with Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky got a lot of credit for knowing “situational awareness.” The color commentators always said Gretzky knew where he and everyone else was on the ice. Gretzky understood the moment in time when the game could pivot on where he positioned himself and the puck. He simply understood hockey.

Javy understands baseball. IMO, his “situational awareness” is phenomenal. His bunt single in the last game against the Dodgers is his latest example: Goeddel was getting slapped around pretty good by the Cubs. Young Javy would have swung at anything in the nearest area code. Instead he lays down a beautiful bunt single. Two batters later he’s coasting home on Rizzo’s double.

Just plain smart baseball.

Ok, sure. Javy is Gretzky.

The idea of Javy playing for another team is really depressing. I love despite all of his giant warts

This is the most hideous thing ever posted here.

If I could give you negative hearts I would

Javy would need to hit roughly 140 home runs a year to be Gretzky.

Yeah but how many times did Gretzky steal home?

I made no comparison of the tools Gretzky had with the tools that Javy has. Only Javy’s awareness of the game and what’s going on around him. Understand now?

Aw, man; that gif cuts off WAY too soon. That's one of the funniest bits of sports hubris ever.

My #1? Also the NBA, and courtesy of Nate Robinson:

[expletive], that kills me every time I watch it.
