Yeah. He's been a bit unlucky. It's more me expecting more out of a 180 million dollar player. After watching Soler try to move around in the outfield I am very thankful for his defense.

I don't want to overstate the importance of a single game in April, but this would be a really important game for the Cards not to lose. To fall 5 back, with your best pitcher on the mound against one of the Cubs' worst, to get swept against the team you're chasing at home when they don't throw either of their top 2 starters, would be bad news.

Yeah, especially when the team that would be 5 up on you is also a better baseball team.

To echo TT, I know the season is less than 10% complete, but I want this one sooooo horsefeathering bad.

Sweep the cardinals. Sweep their Piscottys. Sweep their Hazelbakers. Sweep all their production conjured from nothing.

Sweep them.

Guessing Montero starts this game, even tho it's day game after a night game with Martinez's L/R splits and Ross will be starting the next 2 games in Cincy with facing a LHP and then Lester starts.

Yeah, coming into this series, I was prepared for the Cubs to lose two of three, given the pitching matchups. If this ends in a sweep, it will feel like a bonus for the Cubs, but it would have to be at least moderately demoralizing to the Cards. And really, the series has been already, since they seemed to have gained some confidence in their offense (which was a huge question coming in to the season and after the Pittsburgh series) whilst beating up on awful teams.

That confidence has to have been shaken a tad by these last two games. The Cubs could be five up, and they haven't even started hitting yet.

Jason Heyward- .220 avg, .474 OPS

Anthony Rizzo: .163 avg

Ben Zobrist: .224/.625

Addison Russell: .222/.632

Jorge Soler: .200 avg

Kyle Schwarber hurt after 5 plate appearances

Yet the Cubs are 11-3.
