Another thing to note in the midst of all the prodigious patience...they already had a game where they didn't walk at all.

The Dbacks have an early lead on LA, if that holds, Cubs opponents this year will be 13-5 in games not against the Cubs.

I saw this on GRB a day or two ago, and am filing it away:

They haven't played a good team yet. Can't wait to smack them around next week

A little puffed up after sweeping the worst team in baseball.

to be fair, that was one post in a thread where most of them are voting that the cubs will win 100+ games

True, but I can't wait to see reality dawn on the few who believe the Cubs are just going to turn back into a pumpkin.

Pretty impressive that he found a way to gloat about being swept by a good team.

yeah...you pretty much have to be the definition of delusional to look at this roster and think that.

I think many Reds fans are about where we were in early 2013, as they seem not to accept where the franchise is. I've seen a few taking solace in the Cards and Bucs losing tonight, as if that matters for the Reds at all. If I didn't have a searing hatred of the Brennemans, I'd feel bad for them.

if pitcher feel like rizzo is crowding the plate, they're welcome to jam him inside or try to exploit the inside corner.

seriously, what a bunch of sour grapes.

It's not so much sour grapes as it is drunken rednecks still using aol email.

Speaking of those DBacks...they used Rubby in relief against us after a 100 pitch start and he's pitching again tonight. I want the DBacks to fail so hard.

It's ironic that someone who is perceived by many as being a baseball "intellectual" like LaRussa has presided over the dumbassery we've seen from the DBacks over the past couple of years.

For comparison, Cardinals opponents are 5-12 in games not against the Cards.

They played the [expletive] Braves already.

And now their fans (the less astute ones, anyway) think they have a good offense. They've played one decent team, and got swept.

It's way more an example of public misperception than irony.

It's ironic because of the public perception. Seeming contrary is enough to constitute irony.

Wow, that was a dumbass mistake. I really just wanted to make the cocky-ass comment that began the statement. Theyre both losing late, though.

Pirates just went final, they lose. Cards down 4-3 in the 8th.

and the cards tie it. all your fault.

I'm real glad it worked out. In my defense i was at the airport about to board as i was posting that, so i checked their scores as quickly as i could. That was wreckless though, i would have self banned myself if they both won.

Fair enough. I just wanted to take an opportunity to call LaRussa an idiot.

I think it points to the difference between "intellectual for a manager" and the truly intellectual baseball architects.

I like that one Cincy pitcher decided that since the wind is blowing in, why are we just nibbling corners on these clowns. He then proceeds to watch his pitch go over the left field wall in just under 1 second.
