Still 12 days away but early look at weather on 10/7 and 10/8

Friday 10/7: 62/51, couple of showers possible

Saturday 10/8: 66/44, mainly cloudy

and even more into the future

Thursday 10/13: 65/43, cloudy

Maybe Georgie should sit, looks a bit chilly compared to last year where the highs for our 4 home games were 77, 64, 77, 77. (yes i'm very bored at work today)

that might be right. i'll take 5 pm, and hopefully it'll be an RD game by the time i have to walk in the doors.

I've gotta say, I'm pretty surprised to hear that you're choosing a Kanye concert over a Cubs playoff game David. Especially this Cubs team.

kanye concerts happen every few years. there will be many playoff games. especially silly division series ones.

made these plans and bought the tickets months ago and i'm not gonna bail on a group of 7 other people like some kind of weirdo because i have to watch a baseball game.

It's a group of 7 people, they'll be fine. If the NLDS goes 5, I will most certainly be bailing on a concert with 1 other person.

'a baseball game'?

Go screw. We knew they'd be playing October baseball a year ago, let alone months.

You do realize there is no reasonably accurate weather forecast this far out. Hell even 5-7 forecasts aren't that reliable.

Feel like i've read that general trends in the weather can have a degree in accuracy (i.e. it's going to be cooler than average this week) up to 14 days out. But I'll let Truffle tell me how wrong I am.

Yeah I don't think it's weird given that it's a group of 8 people and it's likely your biggest hobby (given your posting/reading habits on NSB, I can't imagine anything else takes up more spare time).

Did you stop to consider that David is the one that connects all of this people? Maybe he's the hub. Maybe all of their connections are routed through him.

i just hope i get extremely lucky and that game 2 is a day game so that i don't have to miss it for my concert.

Only the NL teams play on Saturday, so wouldn't the earliest game be about 5-6 CT? Then the second game like 7:30-8:30 CT?

Last year the games started at 4:39 and 8:07 CT

In 2014, 4:38 and 8:38 CT

In 2013, 4:37 and 8:08 CT

You are looking at LAD @ WAS and NYM/STL/SF @ Cubs. I'm guessing the Cubs will be the late game

we did. we did not know the dates. even still, i've been excited about this concert for months, too.

I actually kind of am. My niece, my nephew who both would be bummed if I didn't go. Have friends from different circles coming, plus a girl I invited who is really excited to go. I'd be a lame friend and a shitty uncle if I bailed.

Also, I'm very excited about the concert and do not want to skip it, and if I really want to make the effort (and, mainly, have the willpower and some luck) I can avoid hearing anything about the game and watch it on DVR afterward. I would just rather a scenario where I wouldn't have to pick one over the other.

Also, am I crazy (and i could totally be wrong), or weren't you playing softball for at least the end of game 4 vs st louis last year? :-"

Enough game 1 start time talk as I am off work that entire day and made it clear to the wife that any plans she makes for that Friday night revolve around watching the Cubs.

Is game 2 guaranteed to be at night? With only 2 games that day I wouldn't imagine they'd start one at noon or 1, would they?

Earliest it would be is late afternoon. But they want all games in prime time if possible so it will be a night game.

The hell is the point of stupid ass stats like this?

Either pick the sub 2 or the leading the league part...what the hell does filtering to both do for you?

in other words, sub 2 ERAs are very cool. leading the league in ERA is very cool. paring it down to the guys who did both is nothing but a pointless anecdote.

why? If lots of guys did it but didn't lead the league maybe that shows you it was relatively easy to do in those years. sub 2 and leading league is cool

Cubs right-handed pitchers born after 1978 who were not originally drafted by the team and led the league with an ERA under 2 with an average fastball velocity under 90 MPH who attended an Ivy League school based in the state of New Hampshire:

2016 - Kyle Hendricks 1.99 ERA

He's making history guys!

oh, come on. as it is, 2 is just an arbitrary cutoff point that looks cool. it tells you just about nothing.

i mean, if you want to look at what you're talking about, you just go look up who led the league in ERA+.

hell, just last year arrieta had a considerably lower ERA (and better ERA+) but didn't lead the league because grienke happened to be lower.

I really don't understand your problem with this. I get that people often use stupid filters to talk about random Kurkjian factoids, but if you admit that sub 2 is cool and leading the league is cool then I do not see what the problem is with pointing out the very small number of cubs who have led the league with a sub 2.
