Lackey is good to go to start Sunday per Rogers

Would rather see Hendricks get another home start and have Lackey open the road trip. Just because Kyle is so damn good at home. But I guess it doesn't really matter.

Kyle's also nearing his career high in IP so extra days here and there might be a good thing

He's at 159 right now, he's thrown 180 the past 2 years. He's fine and he's going to get plenty of rest the rest of the way it is with the 6-man rotation and off days worked in. At most he has 6 starts left and it's probably going to be 4 or 5 including a likely start on a strict pitch/inning count down the stretch.

Point being he's going to get plenty of rest so it's not a real worry. He won't see a huge inning jump really no matter what happens (even with a deep playoff run he's getting regular rest at least if not extra days a lot of the time). He threw nearly 190 innings last year with the playoffs. So even with a "jump" plus a postseason run he's not getting much higher than 220 or so and that's going to have rest/skip starts added in.

you realize you're basically saying a really long version of what I said, right?

General Cubs chit chat: Is the Chicago "Cub" meant to be a bear-cub specifically, or is it mean't to symbolize any sort of Cub? (Tiger, lion, etc.)

I am fully aware we use the bear-cub as the logo.

It came from a nickname for young, promising players. So technically it started as species non-specific, but I think the bear connection has been pretty well established retroactively.

does anyone remmeber an editorial piece in one of the papers when theo got hired talking about how the cubs were selling out or something by hiring theo and that if they started winning it was going to ruin the cubs mystique or some stupidity like that? think he harped on how theo was coming in from boston and was like a hired gun with no cubs ties or some stupid crap like that too.

Speaking of Theo, is there some particular reason he hasn't signed an extension yet?

I have a hunch that if the Cubs play in and win a World Series he may make more money than if they don't but its just a hunch.
