The Team Control guys - They are controlled through next year, so even if they produce and we sell they might not go anywhere

-  Willson, Kimbrel, Brothers, Williams

I would fully expect them to trade Kimbrel if they keep sucking. That extra year adds value, and they won't need him next year since they'll probably suck again, so they might as well try to find some rando to try and catch lightning in a bottle then trade for more than he's worth because he's racked up some saves

Totally agree. I think if things stay on their current trajectory he's the most likely guy to be traded after KB.

They should extend KB because they aren’t getting a better player back or likely getting one anytime soon and his price is still probably decent. His comp for a trade is probably Machado to the Dodgers a few years back? That was a garbage return. I’d rather do everything to extend him and if not get the comp pick.

It won't happen, but trade Baez, Kimbrel, and Pederson and use the savings plus whatever they were going to offer Baez to extend Bryant. Hoerner plays short, Bryant in LF, re-sign Duffy for 3B, and keep Marisnick as 4th OF. That may not be a WS winner for next year, but they would be watchable.

I'd think you want to see KB stay healthy this season before extending him. It's been a great month with health, but I'd want to see multiple ones.

This. Plus even at his best he has tended to go on prolonged slumps.

Don’t get me wrong, I would 100% support a KB extension. I may shed a tear of happiness if he was extended but I believe despite what he’s said before he wants to test the market, and the market will probably overpay him. At that point the concerns about his ability to torpedo entire seasons with nagging injuries put at least a little risk in a long term mega deal.

But again if the Cubs went ahead and did that I would not complain

I'm fine giving him basically whatever he wants tbh. 2020 was awful, yes, but 30 games. Drives me insane when watching a national broadcast and you get the impression he hasn't been good since 2016. I need any re-set to include keeping Bryzzo, especially if Jed's recent comments about the big money being available soon are true. And hopefully the DH after this season would help both as they age a bit.

Totally fine cashing in on Kimbrel if we still suck or middling in June/July. Same for Javy. The approach isn't cute anymore and obviously a great SS FA class. Even guys like Iglesias and Simmons would be good fits w their contact ability and defense. I'd also understand moving Contreras for a haul.

We'll see him get healthy after trading him and he'll have multiple MVP-type seasons and win a few WS rings.

The delivery is a spitting image beside the calves.

Hopefully, he doesn't hurt his elbow and achillies.

To further partner with Walgreens and encouraging people to get vaccinated, Baez will be playing for the Washington Nationals next season.

Why wait? I’d go for this year at the deadline.

Look forward to them horsefeathering around with Rizzo, keeping him on the roster making it short handed and him putting up like a .500 OPS until mid June as a pinch hitter/part time starter until he’s finally IL’d and him back to normal by the 4th instead of just giving him the ~10 days off here. Also just give Javy off for a few days now that Nico and Happ are back and Duffy/Sogard/Bote are fine to play for 3-5 days. They’re so bad at this “day to day” horsefeathers.
