the fact that he didn't even waver in his belief that that thing was gone really ramps it up

Oh yeah, he knew immediately off the bat. He horsefeathering crushed it and then pimped his way around the bases.

Bote is a horsefeathering Cubs legend no matter what he does from this point on.

Apologize.

The bat doesn’t even do a full rotation, i.e a flip. It would be like if some guy claimed he could do a backflip and then landed on his head.

The HR was legendary. The run around the bases was legendary. The bat flip was pedestrian.

Never has this been more fitting:

The lack of elevation, full rotation or distance traveled dings it a bit, but the immediacy, certainty, finger point, situational awareness and the name/number combo on that back of that jersey really sells it. I go 8/10 on the flip.

10/10 for me. Notice the right-hand index finger doing the number #1 before the left-hand finger #1. It was a mic drop more than a bat flip, and I'm cool with that.

I can't embed it because it's reddit hosted video, but this is good.

That is awesome! I've never seen that before, but was that a bat flip in disgust or from hitting a dong? I couldn't tell if Castellanos got enough of it or if it's just a deep flyout?

He loses a few points because he's clearly hobbled in some way, but the bat toss was amazing and the cadillacing around the bases was a nice touch as well. That catcher needs a whoopin'.
