That's kind of terrifying. I didn't realize it was bad enough to warrant all that.

I didn’t read that in that manner. I read it more along the lines of “hey I’m not going to go crazy with training/lifting on gamedays because i don’t want nagging injuries like this one to derail me or linger”

More of a philosophical approach and less about this one particular injury.

Because playing until you’re 40 is easy? I think its just the point where KB is starting to realize how physically demanding playing 162 pro ball is, and since he wants a long career is approaching life/routines as such. I don’t think its scary, but maybe prudent.

Ah, I've seen him next to his Dad. Unfortunately, I don't think KB is going to age well.

I know, I know... most players don't age well, but I have a bad feeling about KB in his late thirties.

You should have bad feelings about all players in their late 30s. Good thing that’s a decade away +/- for KB.

I too find it hilarious when my favorite team's best player is hurt for at least half the season.

Aaaaaaand the team still has the best record in the National league. you left that part out.

Because our 26 year old superstar hitter has a mysterious shoulder problem that has gone from day-to-day to talking about in terms of missing the season or not, and how he has to change his routine because he's worried about his body breaking down. Those are the kinds of quotes you expect from a 34-year-old.

i mean that quote was probably just the result of Bryant getting his first taste of mortality and trying to give a reporter a quote to work with

but shoulder surgeries are not a joke. this isn't an ankle sprain. Go look at jason heyward before he hurt his shoulder and look at him now.

KB is having surgery? I just read he took “dry swings” with no pain, nothing about surgery

he walked without assistance yesterday - doctors now think he may recover full use of his extremities

Joe Maddon doesn't expect that Kris Bryant will get back to 100 percent this season; the #Cubs' goal is for his shoulder ailment to be 'manageable'

Soooo back to right handed Jason Heyward then?

He had a horrid June (lack of power, obviously, but also a sky high K rate), but in his ten July games he was still putting up a .787 OPS, even without showing any power (1 HR, 2 2Bs). Assuming any sort of health improvement from the time off, that's still a valuable hitter for this team going forward this year. Not ideal, but he can definitely help.

it's kind of worrying that the only remedy we've heard suggested so far is for him to not play baseball. i'd almost feel better if they just said he's going to have surgery in the offseason.

I've long been picturing a heartwarming scene of him and Yu holding hands as they get wheeled into the operating room together.
