Do better, Rizzo.

i don't know what rizzo's feelings are, but i don't see anything wrong with that quote

Besides offering an opinion and then admitting that he has no idea what he's talking about?

Eh, I kinda get it from a player perspective. He can only really say so much here. It's above his paygrade, so to speak.

That should have been his answer, not criticizing the people doing the investigation. Came very close to 'I have no idea why this hasn't been wrapped up already'.

what opinion did he offer? that it's something that should have been investigated and dealt with a long time ago?

the problem is the part about the "investigative work" Rizzo should probably just keep his mouth shut

I think he has kind of a point. What's the point of having left it open this long? I don't think he was saying what the result should've been...just that it should've been dealt with before now.

Rizzo is frustrated, he's frustrated that MLB took their horsefeathering time and he's frustrated Addison is an idiot.

horsefeathers Russell. Lets get Machado in the off season and hope he's not a complete horsefeathers too

maybe i'm naive for giving him the benefit of the doubt, but i thought his response could have easily just meant "if these allegations are true, then they really fucked up by not dealing with it the first time"

F Machado, we’re fine with Baez/Zobrist/Bote.

it's going to be swell in 2019 when russell comes back from a domestic violence suspension, and gets a standing ovation in his first wrigley at-bat

yeah we got about 8 months to criticize Brewers fans for giving Hader a standing ovation before we (we meaning our fan base not our segment which is much less tone deaf) look like hypocrites.

as much as i would like to think otherwise, i kinda think it's more like rizzo thinks his teammate is being railroaded/screwed somehow

It was a lot less than that when Cubs fans were cheering Murphy loudly.

#BryceForever just sign like Jordy Mercer or Hechaverria for backup SS bench player

Which would be better than shitty Addison Russell any way.

So people are now projecting what they think Rizzo thinks about this situation and criticizing him for it because he didn’t answer the question exactly right. Sounds reasonable.

Russell is a pretty easy non-tender candidate imo

He answered it pretty damn poorly, not just less than exactly right.

It would have been pretty easy for him to just not answer given how new this information is. Instead, the one person/party he was critical of was the person/people doing the investigation. It's not a big deal, relative to Russell, obviously. That clip just reminded me of all the Trump Mueller criticism and Paul Ryan doing his standard 'well I haven't heard anything about that' crap. Probably overreacting though.

i'm not trying to defend rizzo. he's probably a [expletive] (didn't he say something kind of weak when chapman came?). i'm just saying that quote didn't seem inherently bad to me. maybe it's because i expect athletes to say bad stuff when something like this happens, so that just seemed more palatable in a relative sense.

Good point. The lesson here is that fans of all fan bases have idiots

An athlete not knowing exactly how to respond in a situation that involves someone he knows well in a culture where throwing teammates under the bus is usually not looked highly upon is not someone I’m going to criticize too strongly.
