Oh yeah cuz it's soooo often you hear about how after a DV dispute everyone comes out feeling like it was a fair process with a just outcome.

Glad that Ricketts was front and center in the initial response. That’s what was needed from the owners (lead owner).

All Joe needed to say is that ownership and the front office are handling this issue and defer questions to them. I don’t understand whether they have no one coordinating responses or whether Maddon is going rogue. I suspect the former and that their comms people are corporate comms only.

It isn’t even PR spin. It’s HEY this is happening and it’s super likely you’ll be asked about it and your response will be all over sports media. So let’s spend a few minutes thinking about what you want to say.

At least Epstein made a better comment about this fucked up situation. I'm sure he would've said more about this situation in private.

I'm sure he thinks Addison's take is BS and that he's lying.

I could see Trump tweeting the same exact quote.

I'm bothered by the part where he says, "isn’t doing their investigative work very good" in his quote.

Definitely sounds like Trump right there.

I'm glad you do your baseball work very good, Rizzo.

my perception of joe maddon before joining the cubs was so horsefeathering wrong

Yup; I've mentioned it before, but I had this completely wrong perception of him as, like, an old hippie type, but in somewhat more like a prime Phil Jackson-type of hippie mixed with Popovich. Granted, that's largely based on me paying almost no attention to the Rays and seeing, like, one ESPN piece on Maddon about how he would ride his bike to the park or some horsefeathers in Florida. I wasn't expecting the Cousin Eddie horsefeathers at all because I was completely in the dark about it, and I got sick of it pretty fast.

jesus, stop asking dumb people what they think. it never ends well for anyone.

You're not going to get an answer you're probably going to want to hear from a professional athlete (not every ballplayer is McCarthy). I don't have a problem with someone who's not a public speaker being asked a question that professional public speakers like politicians can't even asnwer without sounding weak.

Without knowing how they're handling privately, its hard to say one way or another, compared to some poorly crafted answer to a reporter.

Sounds like I hit too close to home with some of you. The self righteousness is so over the top it's ridiculous. I really think half of you (the half that think Rizzo is a fair target here) don't understand the difference between thinking like a critic and thinking critically.

You're the only self righteous one in this thread. Get bent.

Nice retort.

Like, I'm kind of impressed he was able to type so legibly and jack himself off so furiously at the same time.

I will not be liking that post and thank you for pointing it out before when I accidentally liked his other post and I think 2 others. I don’t want that on my NSBB posting resume

I think you are quite dumb.

I will say I've heard from multiple people that Rizzo is a genuinely good person. I saw the video of him talking to reporters and it's not a great response.

His quote is bad, but again he isn't a trained public speaker and probably didn't think about what he should say. He should probably state that he'll read the post from Addison's ex-wife and ask Cubs officials about the matter. Maybe mention how baseball takes DV very seriously and how it's not acceptable. Rizzo mentioned how it's a tough situation (duh). Still, I don't think we should be too hard on Rizzo.

Now, about Maddon's take...
