To be fair, Ortiz is kind of an idiot. He came from Houston and is constantly tweeting about Houston related sports and other topics. Plus, he gave an embarrassingly out of touch and rambling interview on the morning radio show I listen to. Not that he deserves the racist remarks from the power Hoosiers down here, but he's done a terrific job of stirring the pot.

If the Cardinals are losing first round picks I really hope that any time they sign a FA that requires forfeiting a first round pick that they already forfeited it does not just move to the 2nd round but tacks on another loss of a pick in the first year they would have had a 1st round pick.

 

For example, if they lose their 1st round pick for the next 5 years and sign 3 eligible FA in those 5 years it becomes 8 years of not picking in the first round.

Well part of their punishment by MLB is going to be to set a precedent to deter this from happening in the future so I expect it to be harsher than usual. This punishment isn't just for what the cardinals solely did

Those two picks are number 56 and 75 because they lost their first rounder for Fowler, so they're basically going to have a draft like the Cubs did in 2016 where they don't pick in the Top 100.

If we weren't defending WS champs I'd be pretty pissed right now. I felt the punishment should include an actual first rounder, even if that means the punishment doesn't come until later years.

I'd be pretty upset if I was the rest of baseball at this point. How much harm was actually done to the Astros by the hacking? I feel like getting the draft picks is a significant advantage for them in comparison to the damage actually done. The punishment to the Cardinals seems about right and I have a feeling it would have included their first rounder this year as well if they hadn't already forfeited it.
