Boy, that was an ugly game except for the beautiful ball from Jones on Vazquez's goal and the Canada goal. Turner came up huge in PKs.  Always fun to beat Canada

Can’t believe that Miles Robinson had not one but two hand balls inside the box. Crazy…wild game. Should have wiped the floor with these guys but also so fortunate to survive. Gonna be tough playing Panama in 72 hours after playing 120 tonight

What is up with the schedule where you get a week off and then a two-day turnaround (and a day less than your opponent)?

Much better from the US in the 2nd half, most telling is that Panama has begun to resort to CONCACAFing.

A giveaway so bad by Roldan there at the end of regulation that if Panama had converted, it should have been the last time he saw the field in a US jersey.

The US back line has been atrocious all night, laziness from Yedlin led to the Panama goal.

Fortunately Ferreira has been awake, and has had the only decent attacking chances for the US since about 30 seconds in.

Penalties again. Is there anyone on the field that can take them for the US? Ferreira and Mihailovic are gassed, Vazquez, Cowell, Busio are subbed out. This has all the makings of a Jordan Morris/Christian Roldan shank to lose it.

The only question I have coming away from this is, did Roldan do enough here to ensure he never plays meaningful minutes again for the USMNT?

Well I guess we learned that we can’t just pick 20 random Americans from the MLS and win our continental championship. We drew against all 3 of the teams that we played with a pulse which I guess is not terrible, though Canada was playing a B team and Panama a B+ team.

This first half is as bad as I've seen the USMNT play in a long time after the first 30 seconds

yea, I had to turn that off. Then I saw the final score and didn't bother to go back and watch. frankly, there really is no need for a nations league and a gold cup so I think the US approach to the gold cup was good. seems like you sort the good from the not so good from these games.

Pretty encouraged by the landing spots of the USMNT guys on the move in Europe so far.  Pepi to PSV, Aaronson to Union Berlin, Pulisic to Milan seems done, Musah either at Fulham or Milan.  Just need to quiet that Balogun to Chelsea rumor and find a good home for Adams and Dest.

Looks like Weston McKennie will need to find a new employer too.

Seemed like they had trouble finishing from what I could tell, which is I guess not that surprising given the injuries up top.  Vietnam also mucked the game up quite a bit.  I guess the concerning thing is that the old guard (Morgan, Rapinoe, O'Hara) did not look great for stretches of the game.  And that PK by Morgan was terrible.  Netherlands are going to be difficult with a similar performance, but still time for them to get it together.

Gotta say, Netherlands didn't look good either. I thought USWNT was just sloppy - would be easier to overlook if it wasn't similar to their recent friendlies. Spain and Japan looked very good. Hard to judge anything in these mismatches though.

I am wondering if this is a preview of the expanded field men's version - lots of "close" games that are only close because one team just defends deep the whole game. Has not been great to watch so far.
