The pace of this France-Ireland match is insane.

Also, the French keeper looks like the lead guy of Das Sound Machine in Pitch Perfect 2.

The Bravo save on Aguero's header was great. Some really great saves tonight.

So Messi says he's done with the national team? Oh. Ok I guess.

Not just Messi..

Messi was just the first domino to fall. In the ensuing hours, reports emerged tying just about every player of quality to early international retirement. It’s hard to keep track of them all at this point, but ESPN was told that Javier Mascherano, Sergio Aguero, and Lucas Biglia are planning to quit the national team. Angel Di Maria, Gonazlo Higuain, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Ever Banega could follow.

Messi has been pissed at the Argentina Federation, and FIFA just took it over. Once it's regrouped I bet Messi comes back and plays in Russia.

They may not get to Russia if they don't get it figured out quickly. I imagine Messi is pretty exhausted at this point and I can understand him not wanting to put up with all the [expletive]. It was noticeable the only person comfortable to talk to him on the bench after the game were his Barcelona teammates.

That Rojo red card was complete nonsense and a perfect example of a makeup call. You can bet Vidal played for it. Totally changed the game. That aside, watching Argentina's players stand and watch Messi was pathetic.

The second yellow on the Chilean was equally garbage so it evens out. Messi just ran into him. It wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow.

"It wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow."

It was definitely a foul! You can't block a player with your body when they beat you. As for yellow, that is arguable but Messi was in on goal. The first yellow for Diaz could have been red given how high his leg was in hacking Messi down. To say those even out is just not right. I have no idea how you could say that wasn't a foul.

If Messi doesn't play the ball into space almost perpendicular to his run then he would've been stuck by Diaz. Messi also had very little chance of catching up to that ball in space. Diaz doesn't move further into Messi's path to cause the collision. Probably not a foul, definitely not a card.

That's a textbook yellow card. Messi has him beat and Diaz makes no attempt to play the ball and is only trying to get in Messi's way. I have no idea what you talking about with playing the ball perpendicular to his run. Messi pushes the ball to his right around Diaz because that's how you dribble around somebody and he's attempting to move that way before Diaz blocks him. Of course he's not doing to dribble right into Diaz. That would be dumb.

And very little chance of catching up to that ball? Come on. He's got a yard or two on the guy behind him and 3 or 4 on the guy to his right. The Chilean in the middle isn't getting there and neither is the goalie. Messi was as good a bet as anyone to get that ball if he's not blocked.

Let's phrase this a different way. If Diaz had been literally frozen when Messi makes that dribble cut, Messi would still collide with him. Diaz has the right to exist in that spot.

Also, Messi has zero chance of beating the keeper to the ball, his touch was way too heavy.
