So HBO gave the greenlight to a weekly show full of the most tepid, luke-warm takes in sports? Seems like a good investment

wonder what the hell is going on here

abbatacola's twitter account is now protected, which is pretty unusual for a media guy

I haven't been paying attention, but what is going with Matt Abbatacola?

it appears he got caught cheating on his wife with a blackhawks ice girl

So I caught the start of B&B and I think they said Abbatacola was there today and it made me wonder if anything more ever happened with this? Looks like that MattJen670 twitter account is gone now.

So Simmons HBO show was nothing short of awful

I have been an acknowledged Simmons fan for awhile, but it took me a long time to realize I just don't like Simmons the personality at all. The podcasts are ok, but anything he has done on TV is not very interesting. I haven't watched his show, I never watched the Grantland Basketball thing, etc.

I think the only thing I truly like him for is his columns, and he has only written 1 in the past year and change and the ones he did write before his exile lost all the little gimmicks that made his columns interesting and different.

This is almost entirely my stance on him as well

I like most of his podcasts because his rapport with his friends is mostly entertaining and many of the guests he has on are interesting. But he connects almost literally everything now to something Boston-related - it's self-parody at this point - and his incessant whining about Deflategate (as if every other fan base in the NFL wouldn't trade 'being railroaded' or whatever you call it for 4 titles and the greatest QB/coach combo of all time) lost me over a year ago.

In his interview with Jimmy Butler on one of his podcasts, Bill said Marquette was in the Big Ten. When Butler corrects him and mentions that it's in the Big East, Bill says "oh yeah that's right they moved."

WTF?

Simmons makes no secret of the fact that he is not remotely interested in college sports, so I barely notice stuff like that anymore.

Simmons was an entertaining entity when he was unique on Page 2 (the mustard years). But he went to horsefeathers essentially the day after the Red Sox won their first ring. He's the epitome of the awful boston fan that wants to rub the rings in everybody's face while still begging for sympathy for the heart break he's suffered. He's also a one trick pony, comparing anything in a sport to something in pop culture, and it's is the same 3 things that get compared. He's not the voice of the regular fan. He's gone the way of Reilly, King and all the rest, celebrity writers who try and make themselves the story. I cannot see any reason why somebody would follow him anymore. His voice alone is a good reason to stay away.

I've been re-watching GoT from season one while at home sick and before about every other episode on HBOGO is his stupid face/voice promoting his idiotic show. Literally everything he says is either pro-Boston, moronic, or both. It's almost as if it's a parody of Bill Simmons. It's actually quite incredible, in a way.

The Teen Wolf reference in the opening monologue was beyond parody.

It drives me nuts that as soon as NFL Training camp starts 670 and 1000 turn to 80% Bears talk and 20% everything else. I mean I'm sure they get more overall listeners talking Bears but sucks to have a 30 min drive on a Saturday morning and not hear one word about the Cubs. I mean we are still 5 days away from the first pointless preseason game.

I'm a Bears fan that likes to hear about the Bears in general but I don't give 2 shits until the 3rd preseason game.

They've already cranked up the weekly fantasy football show on local sports radio

An underrated good thing about the Olympics is that it distracts me - and sometimes sports media - from all that stupid crap.
