Ohtani is the first player to go 43 and 43 in a season.

And just like Mike Trout, I am letting Ohtani’s entire career pass me by without watching any of it because I can’t sit down to watch another 3 hours daily after the Cubs.

What a unicorn. Documentaries are going to be made about Ohtani,

Bowden Francis has had 2 no-hit bids broken up in the 9th inning in his last 4 starts. First pitcher since Nolan to have that happen in a season, let alone a few weeks time. Googled how many times Nolan had that happen in his career and 5 is the answer. That man was simply insane, nearly had 12 no-hitters. I'd love to know how his stuff graded.

Matt Adams signing a 1 day contract to retire as a Cardinal has to be one of the weirdest instances of that in sports. 4 full seasons with St Louis plus 3 partial seasons and only 513 games played.

He had not been seen in the majors since 2021. I thought he already retired.

Speaking of, I'd be totally cool with Zobrist doing that with us. Even if his time with us was shorter than a leprechaun.

Zobrist last played in MLB with the Cubs, it's not really necessary. Matt Adams' MLB career did not end with STL.

Hell KB and Javy's time may be up soon too!

Yeah they certainly could be done playing pretty soon here but at least they're getting paid for (multiple) more seasons. Don't know what the market is for a 35 year old first baseman with a .608 OPS.

Yeah, but none of us can imagine the perverse pleasure of choosing to not pay for generational talent, can we?

Jed annihilated a couple tens of brain cells trying to come up with a good story for the Ricketts for why they should sign Shohei. It was all over where it came time to talk dollars.

A dramatic recreation of how much thought Tom put into it:
