What's hilarious is that some talking head on MLB Network last night was asked if Girardi was on the hot seat and he was like "naaaahhhh"

Apparently a position player cannot come in to pitch unless his team is down by 6+ runs. The Dodgers were just denied. Seems like CB Bucknor was the only one in the stadium aware of the rule.

I get that a 5 run comeback in 1 inning is very unlikely but Roberts just wanting to completely punt on the chance of that happening is hilarious.

Plus, they have an off day on Monday! You can't survive another day? And it's not like their pen is depleted either. They used 5 total relievers on Thu and Fri. I know Buehler only went 2 1/3 so that kind of puts you in a bind in this specific game but that happens all the time in baseball and in a lot of those instances, the game doesn't end with a position player pitching.

If a team/manager really wanted to just punt a game like the Dodgers last night with this rule, what would stop them from leaving a pitcher in put intentionally walking 4 straight guys to go down 6 and then bring in the position player to pitch?

Nothing but optics

This is going to shock everyone, but all 5 players were white.

Because black and latino players aren’t also virulently homophobic?

It was the coordinated statement with one player speaking for the group that made me think they were all white.

Obviously white people aren’t the only homophobes out there.

So, 3.4 fWAR and 3.0 bWAR for Aaron Judge right now. He definitely made the right call to turn down the Yankees' offer and he's going to break $300M this offseason if he keeps this up. Not sure which team will sign him though to that mega-contract... I don't think it'll be the Cubs. I think we're gonna target Correa, Turner or Bogaerts.

We ain't gonna do isht.

Well, I disagree. I think we sign a top SS target in free agency this offseason. Not sure which one, but I'm pretty sure we sign one of them and move Hoerner back to 2B (not because he's done a bad job at SS. He actually looks great in my looks and has improved his arm strength).

I mean, I hope you're right!

They have to become free agents first.

Shane McClanahan is disgusting. His 94th and final pitch was 99 mph. I can't think of another lefty starter to have power and endurance like that besides Unit.
