For anyone who cares

Maicer Izturis has announced his retirement from baseball.

Izturis was back in camp with the Blue Jays on a minor league deal, but he said that his body just couldn't handle the grind anymore. The 35-year-old was limited to just five rehab games last season and 11 contests the year before that due to injury. Izturis was a pretty solid player before injuries took hold, hitting .269/.331/.372 across parts of 11 big league seasons while playing all over the infield.

Are there anymore Izturises in baseball or that it? That Maddux for Cesar Izturis trade still irrationally angers me.

Something's up in the Cardinal's camp. Peralta was apparently sighted leaving the camp in street clothes, and the GM is expected to make an announcement in the next half hour.

Another PED bust?

Oh, that's anti-climactic.

Now it'll be like they made a big move at the deadline without even giving up any talent!

They're always a step ahead.

That's basically the one spot(aside from C where Molina is already hurt) where they don't have a decent contingency. Gyorko might hit a bit but he's a slightly below average career defender at 2B to say nothing of SS, and the other alternatives(Diaz and Garcia) are not certain to be MLB bench caliber, nevermind start at SS on a contender.
