What's he throwing?

If it's actual darts, that explains the good results. 😜

Kaleb Wing placed on the 7-day IL.

Myrtle Beach posted a few Instagram pics of Wing and he wasn’t in a cast, sling, brace or anything like that…so fingers crossed.

That's fun!

Tangent, but I wonder if Jace Beck has any chance to get promoted if he can keep his burn going?  And if so, whether it will all unravel at Iowa, or if he might keep it up?  Like, if Brody took Beck's spot with Beck up?

I'm surprised he hasn't been promoted already. He hasn't given up more than 1 run since May 27. Granted, some of those outings were 2 or 3 innings, but I think the only concern with him right now is strike throwing. Maybe he pitches one more time and goes to Iowa after the all-star break. Hopefully along with Ayers

Yeah I'm guessing with Beck they're heing gentle with him while he stretches out.  He's also been pitching on 6 days rest (every Saturday) instead of 5.  I wonder if they let him beat up on AA through the end of the month and build up some innings, and then move him to Iowa and start shortening him back up in preparation for a potential September callup.  He's 26 and Rule 5 eligible so there's no roster-management considerations with him.

I know he is older and been in AAA a few years now, but is it possible B.J Murray could be a solid bat? He is having a great year and he is a switch hitter. I noticed he is now getting time in the outfield. On the older side, at 26, to be considered a great prospect. But might he be someone who could possibly be in the plans for the ‘27 team?

He's running an insanely high BABIP right now so excitement should be tempered in spite of the good numbers.

I'm not super worried about the BABIP. He's pulling the ball a lot with solid to better than solid batted ball data. That's a recipe for running high BABIP (minus the speed). As is being on the older side of things in terms of "a prospect" and being a repeater.

That said, I could see him being like Patrick Wisdom (not in player comp, but career arc) where he farts around in Triple-A for years posting good numbers, finally gets a shot to stick around and does so as a useful player for a few years.

A Jeimer Candelario-Lite, perhaps?

"dart" generally describes a fastball—often hovering in the 96–100+ MPH range—thrown with such pinpoint precision that it looks like a dart being thrown at a bullseye. Popularized by Pitching Ninja but common well before the twitter era.

I know what a dart is in baseball terms but I was curious what his velo was sitting at. Thanks.

So your saying he has a chance?  I think there are probably several guys who fit a late start and ended up useful everyday players. So maybe he is one.!

I think the last time he pitched he topped out at 92-93, so definitely not throwing darts.
