Uthoff may be the player of the year. Iowa matches up perfectly with our weaknesses. That being said if we don't give the ball away over and over and hit our free throws we've got a chance. It's crazy to think Iowa lost to a d2 school and has a legit shot at a national championship.

yeah, I didn't have much expectations after the Augustana game and considering how good the football season was going it was hard to care. Then the Iowa State loss was a punch to the gut. I still wonder if only having 1 true center won't hurt them but if they shoot well it's hard to figure out who would beat them.

The IU/Iowa games should be fun. Both teams should be 10-1 or 11-0 heading into the first meeting in a couple weeks. Both teams can light it up, rebounding per game is the same. Could be "first team to 90" wins type of games.

I'd imagine B1G POTY would be between Uthoff, Valentine and Yogi.

I still expect IU to just fall off a cliff and lose a few games soon. Seems like we are close to the time of year that Crean fatigue sets in. But I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think so. I called this win streak in the other thread after the ND game. The schedule has been pretty easy so far, but it's not just winning the games, it's how they are winning. They have had a couple slow starts. They've had some road wins in this streak. They've dominated home games. They actually eeked out a low scoring game vs. Wisconsin. I think this team just has a different look. Everyone seems to know their role and play it well.

iowa state has beat 3 of the top 4 teams in the country. play #5 on saturday, play #9 the following tuesday. brutal.

wasn't overly impressed with either iowa state or kansas tonight, but iowa state played an impressive final 13 minutes or so.

I can't remember another season that had top 10 teams losing so frequently. Seems like there's been multiple lose per week for the past 2 weeks or so. Should line up for an awesome tournament, seems like there's 20 or so teams capable of getting to the Final Four

Last year at this time you had UK and Virginia undefeated, Gonzaga with 1 loss. Year before was Arizona, Wichita, Syracuse who were unbeaten and there were several 1 loss teams in the top 5-10. It is weird to have 3-loss teams in the top 5, but there's typically a handful of really good 3L teams in the top 10.

7 of the top 8 teams lost a game last week

Yeah. It's definitely setting up for a crazy tournament. Last year was incredibly top heavy with Kentucky, Wisconsin and Duke and it ended up playing out that way. We're already down to 3 major conference teams with 2 losses.

Edit: Virginia was down 4 with 7 seconds left. Wake Forest kept missing FTs down the stretch, and Virginia hit a banked 3 from the corner to win.

speaking of bad big ten teams...

last night with 1:30 left in a ten-point game, Rutgers committed a shot-clock violation

on the next Michigan possession, Zak Irvin missed the front end of a one-and-one, Rutgers center Greg Lewis rebounded the miss...and passed the ball to the official standing out of bounds

Really glad they got to beat up on the bottom of the Big Ten while Caris heals, although the longer he is out with no timeline the more I worry if he's ever coming back.

reading the tea leaves, it seems like they're implying he'll be back by no later than MSU- even seeing him in NY wouldn't be a shock

its' fun to imagine how good we can be with LeVert getting to play with the current, healthy version of Zak Irvin and not the guy who was still healing, shooting 20% from 3 in the non-conference season (not to mention an actual, real, usable C)

the UI game was our only hint at this, and some goof had to go step on his leg
