It's OK. The Cubs could win the World Series and a month would go by, and you'd realize life is pretty much the same.

Am I right?

Yes. The lows will always be lower than the highs are high. Then again, the only sport my favorite team has won a championship in during my lifetime is [expletive] hockey.

Still, sports just aren't worth it. Problem is they're more addicting than heroin.

and they weren't even good enough to make your uername

Hate to see a run like we've been witnessing tail off in such a sad little whimper, but it looks like that's how chapter 1 of the New Era ends. I know there's still another game, and maybe another after that, but it doesn't feel that way.

That's the thing tho. Theos plan worked so well, they were a year early according to everyone and Theo was hoping for a 5 year run. We might get 6-7 really great years out of this group

We have 9 wining streaks of 4 games or more this season, including a 4 game sweep of the Mets. [expletive] ain't [expletive].

I'd feel better if this Cubs team had won 4 games in a row this year. Maybe it's not probable. But it's damn sure possible.

I thought this series would at least be competitive. The Cubs are playing like they don't give a [expletive].

This series is [expletive] on a stick. At least in '03 there where some exciting moments that I was able to enjoy before my heart was ripped out and stomped on the floor.

See, this works better for me. If we run into a hot team and we get outplayed, so be it. I'm not happy about it, but it happens all the time in baseball.

My heart couldn't handle an 03 with this crew.

lol I just remember Hammel is starting tomorrow - there's a 100.0% chance he gives up first inning runs

I'd bet money he doesn't. Because baseball.

whatever. that's horrible. i'd give a game 7 with this group - even if it hurt worse at the time - than bowing out after 4 games.

I get the feeling some of you would have been happier if this team lost in the play in game

They beat the Pirates, donged the Cardinals to death and gave us the most exciting season in 13 years. And this train ain't stopping for a long time.

I mean, I'm overall happy with how the playoffs have gone. There's been plenty to cheer about through the DS clincher, and I think we were all ecstatic looking ahead to the championship series, assuming that two, good young teams would duke it out in an evenly matched showdown. But since game one, we've had close to nothing to cheer about. We've never had a lead so far, and we've blown ties immediately. The umps have sucked, which has confounded our lack of plate discipline, we can't string hits together, and our dongs have all been solo shots. I think we were all hoping that if we were going to go out this round, we'd at least make it close.

As soon as tomorrow's thread is up, you're all going to be dick-deep in hype videos. There's going to be so much damn inspiration.

0 for 25 leading off innings and have not had a lead for a single inning this series; how on Earth is this possible? The Mets have caught lightning in a bottle while we have crapped all over ourselves but I will be here tomorrow night in front of my tv until the final damn out.

Too bad we've never had a 4 game winning streak with all games against the mets

That pretty much sums it up.

I still love the 08 team, and I'll always love this team. The series win over the Cards is probably the best thing I've experienced as a Cubs fan. I just wanted more, and thought it was gonna happen. Still can, I suppose, but we're still allowed to feel bad.

Not only no leads but they've trailed in all but 4

innings this series - all tonight
