according to olney we have a 21.3% chance of still winning. that's better than i would have guessed!!!!

Not sure where he got his number but Fangraphs still has us at 23.4%. Gotta be a combination of still having 3 home games left and Fangraphs believing we're the better team.

Someone correct my math if it's wrong, but assuming each game was 50/50, I believe we'd be at 18.75% to win the series. Going with the 4% home field bump (so 54-46 for the home team), I believe we'd be at 19.67%.

He's going by actual history

The cubs have had numerous points this season and playoffs where many thought 'yep here come the same old Cubs' and every single time they've proven that this team is different. This is another opportunity to prove it. They might not, but I have full confidence that they can. Lets do this!

Hendricks looking like just a regular depressed dude that works in IT is my favorite thing about him

Go Sad Hendricks

Nailed it. He totally looks like he graduated with a degree in computer science with a minor in "gaming". He managed to secure a decent job in a nondescript company that he can barely must the energy to care about.

Dear Lord, the amount of time pathetic humans have on their hands is stunning.

I like the idea that someone who came on here with the name 'metsalltheway' and started his post with 'C'mon guys' thinks that anyone with the intelligence he so obviously lacks would think that constitutes a normal baseball discussion.

He doesn't think that. He's trolling trying to generate responses like this for his entertainment.

Let's go. One game at a time. Get this [expletive] to 2-1 and worry about the rest later.

for the record, that kind of nonsensical [expletive] talking is considered normal baseball discussion by these louts.

FWIW, we had no meaningful run-ins with Mets fans this weekend. The only confrontation was between Mets fans when some ogre cut the line and insisted nobody would do anything because he can do whatever he wants because nobody ever does anything because he can do whatever he wants. It was highly entertaining. Many fans stopped to asked us if we flew in for the game and commented on the price of tickets in Chicago.

If we get this to 2-1, that's a huge battle in the momentum in the series. I think we kill Matz and Hammel/pen does enough to even up the series. Then its Lester vs. Harvey again.

If we lose game 3, we have no momentum and will have to hope fortune is on our side to make it a series.

Well, yeah, if we lose game 3, we basically have to do something that's only been done once ever before.

Usually the team that has the first two home games has a better record and is a better team.

And has 50% of the wins they need against a team that has 0% of theirs, which is the biggest thing by far (but yeah, the fact that the Cubs are better would give them a slight edge above expectation) Edited by David

just saying it doesn't really matter. let's just hope the gods smile on us for the next couple and we can go from there.

Going 0-2 with Lester & Arrieta has lost most of my confidence in taking the series. But the return to Wrigley should bring the return on the dongs. With enough of those, perhaps they can make it back to the cesspool known as Citi Field up 3-2.
