I like how the Royals had a magical postseason run last year with only a 30 year WS draught but we can't even have a sliver of positivity this series so far with a 107 year WS draught. [expletive] karma.

I follow the Cubs and Royals like crazy. My favorite team and my home team. There's a reason they call the postseason a crap shoot.

it's not a curse, it's God using Daniel Murphy as a vessel to voice his disapproval of gay marriage

Murphy's a quality player too. The Mets are a good team and I expect an extremely competitive series.

I was going to say this but i was too scared I'd be blasted by the "Murphy is a scrub" brigade. He was probably the best Mets hitter over the course of the entire season. Yes, the power is a bit flukey but this happens in the postseason.

Murphy is a deluxe platoon player having the 2 week stretch of his life. In tonight's Mets lineup he is about the 6th or 7th best hitter depending on if you want to account for the opposing starter and platoon advantage.

Does Theo go for Murphy in the offseason, or is there already enough choices up the middle and/or a serious possibility he turns into lightning fizzle in a bottle once at Wrigley?

Murphy has played in over 140 games the last three years (with over 600 PAs each year) and has 5.6 WAR the last two years (wRCs 107 and 110). He's not this good, because no one is, but if he's their 7th best hitter we are in a lot of trouble.

His wOBA those 3 years has been .320, .324, and .325. That's worse than every regular in tonight's Mets lineup save Flores, and every regular in tonight's Cubs lineup save Baez.

P.S. Apologies for the messed up quotes.

Montero did not look ready to throw that ball, did he know Granderson was running?

So because Arrieta was able to throw as many innings as he did, does that mean he can handle a similar workload next year without tiring?

again, what if the cubs do this for 10 years and never get past the nlcs, with a daniel murphy and curts granderson hiding behind every lesser talented team, will you all believe in curses then?

Granderson has been a solid player for like 10 years.

According to what? Batting average? Duda and Granderson both had OPS's 50+ points higher including at least 30+ in OBP.

Possibly, but next year is when I worry about an injury.
