I start paying attention to the Blues when they're in the playoffs. I don't think that makes me much of a hockey fan.

So...generally not for very long

When Jon Lester pitches.............

CUBS are 16-16

CUBS are 16-12 when Ross catches

CUBS are 0-4 when Montero catches

CUBS have scored 121 runs..... the opponents have scored 121 runs

CUBS have scored 19 runs in the 1st inning.... the opponents have scored 19 runs in the 1st inning

CUBS have outscored the opponents 13-5 in extra innings

My coworker is wearing a Brian Lahair jersey today.

Are you the "coworker", Brandon?

Nah. My jersey is nameless. It's safer.

I knew Ross would get the start...still sucks to see it confirmed.

I do not agree with this sentiment.

There are pros and cons. Ross is obviously far inferior to Miggy with the bat, but he's a better thrower to bases, which could help with Lester pitching.

I wish we were facing a lefty so Ross would at least stand some chance of being useful at the plate, but it's fine. I'm sure Joe will immediately PH Montero if/when Lester comes out.

That's also one of the many values of having Schwarber. You don't have to be afraid of subbing in Montero and risking being out of catchers.

Schwarber himself is at risk of getting replaced defensively though. My guess is Ross stays in as long as the Cubs have a lead, but come the last 3 innings we'll see Montero PH for Ross or a pitcher if they're chasing the game.

He's been lousy vs. all pitchers, but his OPS against righties is .549 this year as opposed to .440 against lefties. For his career, there's not a big difference in his numbers based on which arm the opposing pitcher uses.

Cardinals are now trying to be like Texas A&M and Alabama, claiming titles they didn't actually win.

... They won the Division.
