“I’m as good as I’m going to be,” Ramirez said. “I don’t know if that’s full force at this point, but I feel like I can go out there and compete. I feel like I can let it go.”

Wasn't he hitting 93/94 in his rehab? Or am I imagining that?

According to Fangraphs, from the beginning of the 2010 season through this season, Ryan Howard has been worth about $9.9 million.

He has been paid almost $120 million in that time.

That has to be the largest gap between amount paid and actual value ever right?

What was Mike Hampton worth over the course of his contract?

I think you're looking at being worth around $30 million vs. being paid about $90 million.

keep in mind that the going rate on wins back then was less

By FG's count Howard's been worth about 1.5 WAR in that time. Hampton at least managed a whopping 6.8 or so in his stretch.

Does that seem a little low? - his 2010 and 2011 were decent enough, no? Does it accrue -'ve values?

Pat was describing how graceful Fowler looks when he was running and mentioned how much "real estate his stride chews up" as he glides. ...and Ron decided to chime in by mentioning "the real estate...he chews up" with each step. Ron also doesn't know how to use the term "proverbial." I thought you had to be able to say words to work in radio.

I sincerely believe that Coomer was chosen because A. The name Ron and B. Coomer really does come off sounding a lot like Ron Santo ;without the charm) in the later years, when Pat would passively troll him, and he'd always take the bait. This being said, Santo was in very poor health wheras Coomer is a perfectly healthy 50 year old. And while a lot of people around here seem to dislike Pat, he and Santo were hugely popular as a routine, so to speak.

Apparently, Arrieta has the lowest post ASB ERA in history for a minimum of 75 innings.

Never thought I'd see someone eclipse Prior's amazing late 03 run. Those were different times, though, obviously.

I don't think people dislike Pat. On the contrary, it's a bummer that he seems to have lost his fastball. He was one of the best for a very long time.
