After all the talk about the Cubs lining up their rotation to have Arrieta ready for Game 163, how would a rainout tonight affect this? You wouldn't want him throwing tomorrow and then against on Tuesday, and I think the plan was to get him in on Tuesday.

Edit: I've brought this up before, but this could end up being a good time to just skip his start. I know he's been unstoppable, but I think you really need to watch his innings down the stretch.

He should pitch Wednesday next week anyway. Tuesday is Lester's schedule start, with an extra day's rest. Then have Wood/Wada start the 2nd game of the DH.

Right now he would be going:

Today

Wed. 16th (extra day)

Mon. 21st

Sun. 27th (extra day)

Fri. 2nd

Wildcard game would be on regular rest on Wednesday, Oct. 7th.

Montero most love only playing in 60% of our games.

a lot of the talk when we acquired him was about how a platoon would help in keeping him fresh because of how he declined last year as his workload piled up. i'm fine with it, even though at the time it was castillo he'd be splitting time with.

I'm fine with it too, especially now with not a ton to play for barring a STL collapse. Might as well keep him fresh.

I really hope that if/when they start this game there is a really large window. I'd hate to have Jake pitch 3 innings and then another rain delay.

Hopefully they can start and Arrieta isn't wasted in a 2 inning performance followed by a long delay.

I think he's better off staying on normal rest. The Cardinals didn't have much luck when they gave Lynn, Wacha, and Martinez a break. Hard to believe Arrieta has been as consistently dominant as he has been for so long. I'd hate to mess with that.

It's not hard to believe. Jake the snake baby!

He's primed and I'm loving it. He's a physical specimen I can't help mancrushing on.

Meh, it'd be nice to catch the Pirates and/or Cards, but I don't think doubleheaders will be the reason they don't.

Ugh... two doubleheaders in less than a week? Our rotation is going to be all messed up.

Two off days makes it really not that big of a deal.
