[expletive] Matt Carpenter. If the Cubs lose a game because of Matt Carpenter, I will be murder someone.

nevertheless, while i feel the same, i am pleased at what he just did.

Yeah, my current guess is they'd go Lackey, Garcia, Wacha, Lynn, although the only one of those I'm certain of is Lackey in game 1.

So assuming the Cubs get there they go Lester, Hammel, Hendricks, Arrietta? Or would they try to go to a 3 man?

Arrieta would have normal rest for Game 3, so I have to think they go to him there.

Some sort of Hammel or Hendricks/fill in sixth starter here piggyback situation would be fine with me for Game 2.

Oh, I didn't realize that...then yeah, of course.

Is there some sort of statistically plausible reason a nearly 30-year-old is going from a career high of 13 homers as a pro (2010, mostly AA) to 28 in the big leagues? I'm trying to decide how much that should annoy me.

People ask similar questions about Arrieta. Baseball is weird.

I want no part of Hammel in game 2.

NLDS:

1-Lester

2-Hendricks on a short leash

3-Arrieta-normal rest

4-Hammel then Bullpen (unless facing elimination)

5-Lester-6 days rest

NLCS:

1-Arrieta on normal rest

Well, that's just goofy. Hammel would be incredibly useful to come in and pitch 2-3 innings.

Not sure if this was sarcasm, but that's precisely the purpose of Wood/Richard/Cahill, whichever of those guys make it on. And while I hate going there, Haren has been out-pitching Hammel for a solid month now, and already shutdown the Cards once. Not saying I want Haren on the roster, but I'd probably take him over Hammel at this point.

Go ahead though, call me a goon.

Here's a fun outcome to root for:

Twins finish 5-1 (they're halfway to making this 4-1)

Astros finish 3-1

Angels lose today then win 3 of 4 from Texas

Rangers lose today then lose 3 of 4 to Angels

Everyone finishes with 76 losses, and tiebreaker-palooza breaks out deciding the AL West champ and 2nd wild card. It seems like the AL teases us with this every year, I want to see it happen just once.

I love Jason Heyward so much.

I would love him more if he could've done that before I was eliminated from my fantasy baseball league.

Oh man Cespedes hit on the wrist by a pitch, yelped and dropped his bat right away and left the game.

That suuuuucks.
