when the cubs traded for jerome williams, i though they'd picked up a mid-rotation innings eater for years to come. instead he was [expletive] garbage.

that was over ten years ago.

i like his wikipedia listing:

1 Baseball career

1.1 San Francisco Giants

1.2 Chicago Cubs

1.3 Washington Nationals

1.4 Minnesota Twins

1.5 Long Beach Armada

1.6 Los Angeles Dodgers

1.7 Oakland Athletics

1.8 Indios de Mayaguez and Uni–President Lions

1.9 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

1.10 Houston Astros

1.11 Texas Rangers

1.12 Philadelphia Phillies

what an odyssey. 10 major league teams, 17 minor league teams, 4 winter ball clubs, and a stint in taiwan.

hey regardless of how bad he is and how many homers the cubs can hit off him, after playing pro ball all those years i bet he will retire with plenty of $$$$ in the bank..

When first skimming this I read "Lions" as "Loans" and thought he played for some team sponsored by loan sharks.

Yeah. I mean, look at guys like Andre Rison or Scottie Pippen. Ball professionally for a while then go live it up like Warren Buffett.

well according to baseball reference he's made only $8.9m in major league salaries. i'm sure he got more than the average minor league player in the 5 or so years while he was trying to get back to the majors, but once you take out taxes and paying his agent, i really doubt that he's got much of a nest egg set aside.

Seeing as most pro-athletes are retired well before their 40th birthday, isn't that pretty much what all of them do? I mean aside from the dumb asses who blow it all on moon pies and penny-whistles.

You cant stereotype a black athlete like that its just wrong.

Yeah no doubt. But at least Russell is showing some life so there's only a black hole from 6-8 to deal with.

if ever there was a game the Cubs should win, this is it.

It's a day game though, so they wont be able to score runs

wouldnt be surprised if Bryant left in the 2nd inning with "Flu like symptoms"

i am excited for 2020 when we can have a shortstop who is good at hitting or fielding again

well to be fair, almost no one has a shortstop that can do both of those things

the real problem is we have one that can do neither
