For a so called "elite" starter, Lester gets rattled with guys on more than any pitcher I've ever seen.

Lester this year:

Bases empty: .774 OPS allowed

Runners on: .630 OPS allowed

RISP: .574 OPS allowed

something really needs to be done about this offense

LF and CF are the only positions that we could possibly upgrade. Everywhere else, all we can do is wait for them to get better. I don't see them moving Fowler, and I'm not sure what kind of impact bat we could acquire to play left. Maybe we could stick Schwarber out there towards the end of the year, but besides that, I'm not sure there's much we can do about our offense.

Russell can be optioned. While I do think that his defense and his exposure to big league pitching are of more value than mashing at AAA, if we're playing to win, we need someone who can hit now.

hopefully the all star break will let some of the guys get they're [expletive] straight and learn how to hit again!

That and a stern lecture from Maddon.

Somehow they've made sale throw 74 pitches already. Huh.

That's the good news. Bad news is the Cubs can't hit the Sox bullpen either.

pretty much

[expletive] it. Just keep playing Jonathan Herrera.

Honest to God, him at 2nd and Russell at SS can't really be any worse. Not a big downgrade on defense either I don't think.

Can anyone else play CF?

I love that Ventura is still going to the lefty. We couldn't score 4 in this inning if we had 27 more outs, but sure, burn the lefty.

Why does Ventura feel the need to make a bullpen change with 2 outs in the 9th and nobody on? Seems desperate to me

Coming from an organization who thinks it's more important to beat the Cubs than most other teams in their own league, are you surprised?

On the other hand, we get to watch Rizzo and Bryant hit dongs on Monday.

Hopefully

Yeah. They sure are adept at hitting homers. God forbid they hit one in a [expletive] game sometime.
