Win today and the Pirates lose and Cubs have second best record in NL.

And if we win today, the NL Central will have the three best records in the NL.

The huge storm system is moving straight east and looks to have moved out of the area, however there's a strip of rain streching into Iowa that will hopefully pass through and finish in the next 5 hours. Hopefully nothing else develops and the game should be good to go.

Last week (I believe the 1st Cleveland loss), the Cubs had a chance to be good enough for 1st place or at least tied in the loss column for the lead in every division in baseball, except for being 3rd place in their own.

Yea weather doesn't look bad at all. Might have one more cell coming through but it doesn't look too damaging. I'm looking over on the lake right now and people are out there so it must not be too bad!

Normally I'd hate the Wada/Kershaw matchup but if we can find a silver lining - Dodgers played a west coast 7 PM game last night, probably didn't get into Chicago until the early morning hours.. So maybe lack of rest/jet lag is on our side? We can hope.

David Ross starting because he once got a hit off a LHP or something.

kershaw is exactly the sort of guy you would want montero to avoid.

also this wind better stop/shift or wada is legit going to give up 5 hr tonight.

It's probably just rationalization, but part of me thinks that it might be better this way. Make it a game where neither starter makes it through 4 because every fly ball is a home run, that way the extreme SP mismatch matters less because you have to score 15 to win.

I like this way of thinking, but the Cubs are constantly unable to get the ball in the air on days like this, it feels like.

I like the positivity, TT, but Kershaw will likely get more grounders and K's than Wada.

I think a thunderstorm from about 8:00-9:00 would be more beneficial.

Greinke is the only one I'm a little scared of, and that's entirely because of his picture:

He was SO scary on Tiny Toons:

i think he kind of looks like the less-talkative mcpoyle twin in that pic

Just realized the Pirates don't play today, but your statement still stands.
