I would be pretty surprised if Olt made it to MLB at the end of his rehab, he'll be optioned to Iowa.

For Ramirez, it's hard to tell with several weeks to go, but one of the lefties is probably on the way out.

Olt wouldn't be on the ML team to give Bryant and Rizzo days off. He'd be here to provide RH power to replace the lost power from Soler, and playing at 3B, while moving Bryant to the OF on a more full-time basis. Basically, what Baez would be doing now if he wasn't injured. Of course, by the time Olt is ready to help, Soler will be back. Baez might even make it back before Olt. Even if he doesn't, it'll be a close enough timeline that I don't think Olt makes it out of Iowa as TT said.

I think Olt will go back to Iowa when he's healthy. He probably wont come back up till September where he could be a late inning defensive replacement. I guess if someone gets hurt or traded we might see him before September but I doubt it.

Ramirez I am looking forward to seeing again our bullpen could definitely use him. When him and Soriano get added to our pen we probably wont be needing to trade for someone like Papelbon anymore. We could then use those prospects to aquire someone to replace Wada in the rotation.

While he may go to Iowa for a few reps, Olt will be back on the MLB team long before Sept. . Just

take a look at our bench.....

He's as bad as or worse than anyone on our bench.

He's really, really bad at baseball. I don't understand why so much of the fanbase has trouble accepting this.

You're seriously the worst. You have no idea (nor does anyone else for that matter) how he'll adjust after last year. He's clearly very qualified to play 3rd and he has enough power to be useful. Even if he turns into Mark Hendricks, he's a highly useful bench piece. In other words, shut your speculative and uninformed piehole.

Olt is not worse than Baxter and Herrera FFS

He might actually be worse than Baxter. Totally different role than Herrera, so hard to say there.

Olt is not clearly better than Lake or Szczur, which is what matters. Baxter is on the team because he's left handed, and Herrera is on the team because he can play the middle infield, Olt can do neither of those two things.

There's a good chance Olt is better than Szczur at least but probably not Lake.

Who is Mark Hendricks?

Olt is bad. He has been bad for a long time. Gerting a healthy Ramirez back this year would be tremendous.

I assume he meant Mark Reynolds.

It's theoretically possible for any crappy player in baseball to "adjust" and suddenly become useful. I'm not sure why Olt is getting any more hope in that regard than every other pile of dreck at Iowa or even AA, but sure, it's theoretically possible.

Why not? What has Olt done since 2012 that demonstrates more baseball ability than those two?

Heck, Herrera has two seasons at replacement level or better, something Olt has never managed.

Yeah, Reynolds. Beer fests are bad for memory use.

Entirely defense based, I presume, as he's never managed an OPS+ above 82.

RHRP Nail Ramirez (on Cubs MLB 15-day DL - right shoulder inflammation) continued his EXST rehab, making his second appearance on the mound in three days, and Mike Olt (on Cubs 60-day DL - fractured right wrist) made his second rehab start in three days.

Ramirez entered the game in the top of the 4th inning, with one out and a runner at 2nd base. He faced three hitters, striking out Mike Olt (looking) on a 3-2 pitch, before issuing a walk to Jhonny Pereda on a 3-1 pitch and striking out Carlos Jimenez (swinging) on three pitches.

In 1.1 IP in two Cubs EXST intrasquad games (today and Friday), Ramirez has allowed no runs, two hits and a walk, and struck out four.

Would there be any benefit or downside to moving Ramirez to the 60-day DL? He's been out over 60 days so I figure there's probably a reason why he's still on the 15-day DL.
