Remember when Lake threw us a .335 wOBA in 2013? I was adamant that he wasn't a true .335 wOBA player because of his peripherals. What's weird now is that he dramatically changed his approach. He changed his stance, some mechanics, and has been laying off poor pitches more. It's worth watching.

Anything else you've noticed going on in his peripherals? Contact? Quality of contact?

I think CubinNY just had a stroke.

There was no evidence to suggest Lake was going to be a sustainable, productive player from 2013-2014. Any thought of that was idealistic. Nearly all MLB players fail to adjust successfully and are swallowed up by the game. It looks like Lake has actually made tangible adjustments that might actually work at the MLB level.

haha

the warning is right on. I was just going to comment before you added that. It sounds like the guy is going to provide analysis, but he talks about the fact that he moved positions as some sort of proof he can adjust, and getting into fights means he cares.

great lets make him the centerpiece for a sonny gray deal.

Definitely a "sell high" guy. Get something for him if you can. May have a decent season for another team but reminds me of the type of guy that will never have sustained success in the bigs.

I am still in the firm belief there is a GM like Stewart or Amaro who could be convinced to acquire Lake for something useful.

Not alone. He'd be a good guy to throw in as an extra piece of a larger trade. The Mike Olt of a blockbuster type trade.

I've always thought he seems like a White Sox kind of guy.
