Eh. He still has a low contact rate and I'd like to see him sustain that kind of success a while longer. Still a bit skeptical at this point.

Bryant is in LF also

Make way for Javy?

I think that's more of a necessity based on facing a lefty and Soler being out, no?

Maybe. Don't see why Herrera in the OF wouldn't make as much sense (if not more) if there were no plans/thoughts whatsoever about Bryant to LF.

Bryant has already played more innings in the OF for the Cubs this year than Herrera has in the majors or minors. Maddon clearly thinks Bryant is fine as a backup OF, while Herrera is an IF only.

I don't agree with your reasoning.

Also, if Bryant could get the 5 starts in the OF to make him eligible for that position in Yahoo Fantasy, that'd be just super.

What explains the game in CF earlier in the season then? How is this different than that one? It seems to me to be the exact same situation. An OF is hurt and they are facing a left-hander.

If Soler goes on the DL the Cubs really need to stop dicking around and get Baez up to the big club already.

Baez coming back is likely gonna be a lot of dicking around, too.

Jorge Soler will undergo an MRI Tuesday on his ailing ankle.

The results are expected on Wednesday. Soler hurt the ankle when he landed awkwardly running to first base on Monday night. The Cubs haven't ruled out a potential stint on the disabled list.

Probably Lake's last shot to prove himself if Soler goes on the DL. If it doesn't seem to be working, Baez up and Bryant to LF would probably follow, right? Not a Szczur fan.

*shrug* He kinda sucks. Not a big loss.

Unless Lake or Szczur surprise us, you'll notice his absence pretty quickly.

At the rate Soler (and his .383 BABIP) have been accumulating WAR this year, we *might* notice a loss of one run downgrading from Soler to Szczur for two weeks.
