Remember when you'd walk to the back of a K-Mart and there would randomly be a Little Caesars counter?

That was the most bizarre [expletive] I've ever seen.

Fred, if I may ask, did you vote for William McKinley or William Jennings Bryan in '96?

:)

I don't even know who those guys played for. I voted for Cap Anson, but the CUBS only finished third and he didn't win.

I remember buying cassettes and bait at kmart when I was little but I have not been inside a K-Mart since probably 1994 and never saw a Little Caesars in one. But I have seen Pizza Hut inside of Target stores, it's pretty common to have that kind of combo.

I want to travel back in time with this guy and watch him freak out over a Woolworth's.

Kmart is so weird. There's one that I will randomly stop by a couple times a year, and it always reminds me of how stores look on the last day before a hurricane hits. It's like I wanted to start a department store so I gave my daughter $40 and told her to fill it.

I lived in Japan for 6 years between 96-02 and was shocked how there was a subway attached to nearly every gas station outside of the city in the midwest when i got back

Yeah, I haven't been in one in a long, long time, but even as a kid I remember just how trashed and chaotic they seemed. They always looked like some huge rush had just happened that left it in shambles.

I used to work for Kmart corporate(really Sears, but I digress). There were no Kmarts within a half hour of my apartment.

Man, you nailed it with the hurricane bit.

I always felt like they just needed a good renovation in their stores...more than changing the signage...the floors, shelving, checkouts, layout...the whole bit.

Sears actually has the same feel.

This last year I went to help on an "emergency" call at a KMart distributor the day after Thanksgiving. Long story short they were using some really old technology and it broke. To get them back up and running I had to fire up a laptop with Windows 95 on it and pull some files off of some floppies, find some old cables that probably haven't been used since I was in second grade and re download to their processor.

The thing is, it took me about 2 minutes to backup a whole bunch of their machines to thumb drives that can interface with the processors via USB and Windows 7. Not really planning ahead much at KMart.

Through about 20 words I assumed you were an EMT.

Yeah, I went back and added the quotation marks for that reason.
