holy cow we've got us a ballgame!

the baseball cubs of chicago visit the district of columbia to compete in a sanctioned three-game series against the host nationals. tuesday evening's game is the second of the set, and the best they can hope for is 2 of 3. kyle hendrix will take the mound versus a guy named jordan zimmerman; the latter shall not be blamed for his awful first name. buy your peanuts outside the stadium and watch for fly balls

CORRECTION: this baseball game will be played in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, and not amongst the unrepresented citizens of our nation's capital

wait so why is this game at 6:05?

ESPN is four letters and starts with the letter "e". Evil is also four letters and starts with an "e".

Coincidence? I don't think so.

Ned Yost put Moustakas in the 2-hole so he would hit like the best player on the team. That worked. Maybe Maddon is trying the same voodoo with Castro. Maybe they should also teach him to hit it the other way with authority like Moustakas.

I don't really get worked up about batting order but I have to admit it is annoying seeing Castro come up after Bryzzo.

I think the most annoying part of this line-up is seeing David Ross grab a bat.

I agree; his continued presence the 4-spot is baffling. Not that it's news to anyone here, but among qualifying Cubs hitters, Castro ranks as follows:

wOBA: Last (.278)

BB%: Last (3.7%)

LD%: Last (16.4%)

GB%: First (60.3%)

Soft%: First (24%)

He might be the least well-suited position player to bat in that spot. Move him down until he gets right.

This is just so depressing to read. He was someone I think pretty much everyone just assumed would be a lock to be productive.

yes and ppl were so upset with my expressions of castro a while back. too bad his trade value is probably half of what it was during the offseason.

There was little reason to move him in the offseason; he was a player that you could expect to be productive, Baez had just had a disastrous showing and Russell hadn't been up yet. You're not going to jump and move the one guy among them who actually could have been called a sure thing at the time and move him then, because the expectation was you'd likely be able to move him (if so desired) during or after the season and his value would still be high.

Castro's production isnt guaranteed, he had some great years and a bad year mixed up.
