Freyr is essentially the Norse God of Sex.

Freyr is the god of fertility and fruitfulness. He is the noblest of the gods. Together with his sister, Freyja, he brings peace and prosperity to men and the blessings of fertility to the home and the field. The Norsemen made sacrifices to Freyr til árs ok friðar (for frutifulness and peace).

Fans have been waiting and waiting for Javier Baez's return to the Iowa Cubs.

Well, they'll probably have to wait a little longer.

Iowa manager Marty Pevey gave an estimate on when the hard-hitting infielder could return to action after landing on the disabled list with a non-displaced fracture in his left ring finger.

"Honestly, just guessing and it's just a guess, I would say probably…. I'm going to say two and a half, three weeks," Pevey said of Baez's possible return.

So I guess the best case scenario now is for him to get a few weeks in at AAA and then come up in September. Hopefully he rakes and is able to make the team next year.

If Baez pans out and turns into a stud, that would really be the icing on the cake. We could stick him at 3rd (or wherever, depending on how we shuffle our infielders) and move Bryant to LF. Just imagine that lineup. I'm totally rooting for the guy.

lol. That has to be a joke, right? Besides being right handed and having the ability to play multiple positions in the infield...sure, why not?

Outside of Baez's strikeout issues, he projects to be pretty similar to Machado if he reaches what most of us think he can be right? Great defense, +power and a 270 avg?

I seriously doubt "most of us" project him to be similar to Machado.

That's what most of us would murder for him to be.

i don't see how you can start a sentence regarding baez with "outside of Baez's strikeout issues." yeah outside of mariano rivera's cutter, he wasn't a very impressive pitcher.

So, what are the chances that Baez is up soon and playing second with Russell at short?

It sure feels like he's going to at least get his shot.

Some chance? I think there's a chance we see Castro shipped out by the deadline and Baez taking his place.
